Banned without a warning

Unread postby -=KJ=- » 25 Jan 11, 11:37 pm

First time I've played DOD:s for about 2 years and I get banned for singing in the microphone without any warning at all. I'm just wondering if this ban without proper warning is an acceptable response to someone slightly intoxicated just having a good time... Any warning at all and I would have stopped, anyway I'm just curious about internodes admin punishment, are they allowed to ban without a warning or was it admin abuse? If so the admin in that server was ruining my game experience and should review his T&Cs. I am a current admin with GameArena and I am not allowed to ban without a warning... No where else in real life are people with administration powers allowed to ban without any warning at all so why should internode admins have this power? It just ruins the gaming experience and that is probably the main reason why Day of Defeat: S is a dying game with less than 100 people playing at anytime...

Wouldn't a mute be a more appropriate action than a ban?

While in the majority of cases an Admin will, or attempt to warn you that your actions are unacceptable, in some cases a ban will be issued instantly and will apply across all like servers.

This is the only Australian ISP that can ban without warning, pathetic imo. Why should a person who dedicated him/herself to moderating a game have the power to ban without warning. Have a little enthusiasm to a job that there is tons of people in line for or step down and let someone else get admin who is willing to write a one sentence warning before a ban. As an admin for another isp I always take the effort to specifically warn and only proceed to ban after the disruption continues, instantly just banning a player ruins the community base and I have no doubt that has contributed to why the DOD:S player percentage has gone down dramatically since release. Internode should definitely think about rewriting this instant ban non-sense. The whole point of an admin is to serve the gamers trying to have a good time and not just remove them from the game.

Why should everyone in game have to put up with your drunk singing? Why is it everyone else can read the rules for the game but yet you seem incapable of doing that? As an Admin for GA I find it quite interesting that you seem to think Mic Spam is acceptable? Maybe next time you will read the server rules first?

Food for thought :)

In the meantime, maybe you might want to submit a ban appeal? If so the Ban Appeal for is located under Tools at the top of the forums.

No offense pal, you did something probably very stupid and immature. You've broken the rules... so stop trying to put it on Node.

Submit a ban appeal: http://games.on.net/pages.php?page=appeal

Warnings are at an admin's discretion and are much less likely the more obnoxious you're being or the more serious the rule you're breaking.

The admins of the real world - the police - don't have to give you warnings for a great many offences before putting you on the ban list - jail.

Submit an appeal. Or just go back to GA. :)

This is why i play on node servers. If you break the rules you get banned stright up. I couldn't care less about your singing. Good riddance i say.

Actually, it makes it better. Last thing we need is some person shouting **** over a mic.

Pretty sure you can get arrested for breaking rules without a warning.

The rules ARE your first warning! You can't say you are ignorant of the rules either as the rules are listed within the Message of the Day screen and the only way you can get into playing the game is by pressing "OK" which says that you agree to the rules and agree to abide by the rules.

I find it difficult to believe you are actually an Admin for another servers games and you have trouble of adhering to rules yourself.

As mentioned by everyone else, put in a ban appeal : http://games.on.net/pages.php?page=appeal
