Suit Up for Monday Night Combat

Unread postby News Portal » 25 Jan 11, 1:27 pm

Irreverent class-based, third-person shooter? Don’t mind if I do! [app=7115Monday Night Combat[/app] is the epitome of cartoonish multiplayer chaos, and it’s just hit Steam right now. Need I say, “Go go go?” Probably not, because aside from the gratuitous glory that is the game itself, the usual early-bird Steam carrot also dangles here. Purchase before February 1st and you could get yourself some radical hats!

Is GON going to put up a server or two for this game?

Penny Arcade has a good news post on the alterations to the gameplay that were made during console to pc conversion.

http://www.penny-arcade.com/2011/1/24/

It lays to rest any doubts about the keyboard/mouse combo's superior to the control pad for FPS.

Thats the opposite of what this game needs, we need people on it in order for it too last, the AU community isn't very big and if people don't show up soon.. well its gone

If this game is as addictive as they say it is, then I don't see dead servers being a problem.

Soo... who's bought it already? First impressions?

Longevity is asking a lot from a game that's only 15 bucks. If it appeals I'd say jump in and enjoy it while it lasts.

Hey, TF2 was FREE*!

* May have also been $20/$15/$10/$7.50/$5/$2.50/$2 !

Heh, I'd just finished reading that and was on my way to link it here. :)

It is indeed a very interesting summary of the benefits of the mouse over a controller... and the way in which console players are assisted (aka cheat) to overcome the limitations.

Completely agree... what Acheron is doing is showcasing why quality games die. Is it any wonder we keep seeing sequels upon sequels? People should be more adventurous or we lose the right to complain about companies like Activision.

I've really enjoyed this game on Xbox but I found the character specials to be hard to fire off. So many players know how to use them and dominate. I'm definitely looking forward to having more control with mouse and keys.

See you all on there :)

Found some 3FL servers but I can't join them because of this weird error "The host has downloadable content that you don't".

Not looking too promising.

I'll probably only buy it for the TF2 content which looks wicked. But I'll obviously sink a few hours in the Monday Night Combat because from the store page looks very similar to TF2(Classes and stuff like that). Maybe I'm wrong.
