City Interactive’s Mystery FPS

Unread postby News Portal » 8 Dec 10, 12:09 pm

City Interactive are a Polish developers responsible for such astonishing gaming monuments as… [app=2748]Beauty Factory[/app], and... Chicken Riot… well, there’s also Sushi Academy, and… [app=5964]Farm Frenzy[/app]. At some stage, there was a point I was trying to make here, but the more I stare at City’s list of development achievements, the less I want to keep living. Oh, wait hang on! [app=6894]Sniper: Ghost Warrior[/app]. That was them, they did that. Sniping stuff is good times, and while it was largely canned across the board it did show glimmers of potential (however slight), so we’ll give ‘em a chance.

Was Sniper Ghost Warrior that bad? Seems to get a 5/10 score on average, it's a title I've got lined up to play when it becomes available as a super cheap special on Steam hmm.

I played the demo and it sure did look/sound nice.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior, was awful.

City Interactive come out with more games then anyone in a year. They make was alright looking stuff but seriously without polish.

Did they really buy Unreal Engine 3 or just using UDK?

Sniper: Ghost Warrior, is properly there most publicly known title. It was very disappointing.

***spoiler alert***
The first mission I'm up in the mountains looking down at a base, I'm in the jungle in a ghillie suit (basically invisible). I'm lining up the bad dude, the place blows up, I can't make the shot. But some how 100 guys magically know where I am! WTF!? These guys are blind as bats and then all of a sudden their f***ing predators. And then it goes from there to less and less sniper stuff and more normal FPS stuff while practically having your hand held by your mother around the park.

I don't expect much. But I do like how many games City Interactive pop out with every year. With nice enough graphics and yet always COULD be something. Something maybe even enjoyable.

If they just spent twice the amount of time on a single game and thought about gameplay...

Sniper Ghost Warrior didn't suck because of the engine. It sucked because of really **** design decisions and implementation. Like a new engine will fix **** if they keep doing that.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior was my biggest disappointment of the year.

For some reason I expected a more modern, shiny, fps version of Sniper Elite. Instead, I got a steaming pile of ****.
