European Retailers Make the Naughty List with Broken Cataclysm Street Date

Or did you just find a shop openly flaunting the street date, like practically everyone in Europe?

My copy arrived via mail yesterday morning (from ebgames online). Seems weird that physical shops such as an ebgames outlet aren't releasing it till 7pm here in SA.

EB are releasing it when the servers go live.

More importantly, whats's the point in holding it back when you can't actually use the expansion until the servers go live?

Seems idiotic to make customers wait for their box when they could be pre-installing, etc.

Well that kinda does make sence. if blizzard did want the game to be released at the same time to consumers then why allow digital downloads. Yes i do know that the servers are going online tonite at 7pm. but i can sort of see the point from the retailer too.

Mekon is right too, here's hopeing the pre install doesnt take ages.

On a related note, I just got a text message saying my Collectors edition would be available for pickup as soon as my local EB opens (despite the fact I got a message earlier in the week saying it would be available at 7)

I agree. how is this a big deal if they can't do anything until the servers go live at midnight US time?

for the record. eb were launching at 7pm AEST (the official release time). however they are officially selling it now... why i dont know. but as people say, it doesnt make much sense not to as it wont work until 7pm anyway.... maybe blizzard saw the obvious and told them they could sell it (or more likely the whole thing with other retailers selling it, blizzard just evened the odds).

As far as I'm aware, we're still keeping with our 6pm AEST (7pm AEDT) release schedule at work. (DSE doing night releases means I work longer )

Besides, one of the WoW players at work tells me that all you get with the expansion is the product key to enable the content which has been recently patched.

For those of you who (like me) didn't get the Digital Download pre-sale of Cataclysm.

You do NOT need the Cataclysm disc to install the game.
You already have all the Cataclysm information already on your computer.
Simply go to your account management page and update your account using the Account Upgrade Key once you get home.

If you use the Cataclysm DVD it will revert your game back to version 4.0.1, and you'll have to redownload patches to get back to 4.0.3a.

I preorderd mine through blizzard last week... Now we have to wait till 7pm tonight (midnight pst) for cataclysm servers to go live
