Patch Problems

Unread postby Cougr » 10 Nov 10, 7:20 pm

I purchased my BC2 through steam, and I usually let steam update it that way. But when I seen the size of the patch I decided to download it through GON.

I downloaded:
BFBC2_PC_Client_R9_589035_Patch

When I run the Patch it starts extracting and the installation bar gets to about 8/10 of the way to the end and then I get:

Game data files are corrupt.
Reinstall the game and try again.

Is this because I am trying to patch BC2 in the Steam folder?
Or does it still work if BC2 is installed in the Steam folder?

Wild stab but i'm pretty sure it's due to being installed by steam.

Yeah it seems like it, can't be bothered waiting any longer for a response, I'll just have to use some quota to download the patch.

Isn't there some way you can force steam to get it from a local host, if the file you want is on a local host, like say internode?

Yes there is. You can use steamwatch to ensure that the download downloads from the australian content servers because all steam content servers are quota free for internode customers! :)
That or you can rely on steams download location thingy but it's best to use steamwatch.

I used to use SteamWatch but I found it made me lag in-game so I stopped using it. Since then I've formatted so I don't want to have to set it all up again.

Thanks for the help ;)

You just turn steam watch off when not downloading :)

I dunno then, around the same time I stopped using SteamWatch the problems stopped.
