What system are you running cs1.6 on?

Unread postby Phrenetic » 7 Nov 10, 3:48 pm

CS is such an old game, what system are you running to play yours?

Do you still play with a CRT? How about a dedicated soundcard with headphones or earbuds, or maybe just a basic satellite speakers next to your monitor?

Interested to hear what you guys have,
regards,
Phrenetic

edit: I guess I'll start things off:

cpu: i7 920 @ 2.66Ghz
gfx: gtx275
harddrive: WD green
monitor: 26.5"" LCD
keyboard: microsoft sidewinder x6
mouse: steelseries ikari laser

Framerate easily reaches in the ridiculous hundreds, but I still find myself cutting down on the graphics effects via configs and capping the framerate under a hundred...

Despite going back to other games, I still find myself coming back to counter-strike. The gun-recoil system is easily the most fun to play with (except maybe CSS, which is hillarious) and the ability the ability to rely on hearing so much is fantastic.

I would agree with you regarding the graphics.

But then I recall reskinning all my weapon model until they looked pretty.

Many newer games' weapons reload animations are simply not as detailed as those provided by the cs community.

Ugh, no mousemats! You're going to scratch a hole in that lovely desk of yours.

but otherwise, a very clean desk. Mine's a bit more cluttered, earbuds, fingerless gloves, I even have a small 17ml of Gucci perfume..

Up until recently I was runnin' CS on a chunky as 19" CRT which was a constant joke to my friends, paired with an old system that got 99 fps on a good day.

Fortunately now though, I have a completely new system -
CPU - AMD x4 Phenom 955
Mobo - Asus M4A87TD-USB3
RAM - 4gb ddr3
GPU - 1GB ATI Radeon HD5770
Monitor - 23~" LED
Keyboard/Mouse - random crummy Compaq ones.
Headset - Pretty decent Gamecon Plantronics red and black thing :p

@Phrenetic, Mousemats are for women 8)

Current system of over 2 years now:
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 4x1GB DDR2
Hard Drive: 1 TB WD
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
Monitor: 22" ViewSonic VA226w
Speakers/Headphones: Logitech
Keyboard: Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard
Mouse: Logitech MX518
Mouse Surface: foam mouse pad
Operating System: Windows 7 (32bit)
Motherboard: ASUS P5Q Deluxe
Computer Case: CoolerMaster Centurion CAC-T05

While on this topic, I've found running half-life on win7 to be pretty error prone.
I think it had something to do with open gl not being supported anymore by Microsoft in favor of direct x.
Either way I get random fps lag and crashes when game sounds are played. Where as when playing on Windows XP it's perfectly fine.
Pretty sad :(

Yeah, original HL never worked for me, I was hoping to play it for some good bunnyhopping action, but it crashes at the very start :(
