Medal of Honor DLC Comes in Free and Not So Free Varieties

Unread postby News Portal » 5 Nov 10, 4:06 am

The D in DLC might as well stand for "divisive" - some people enjoy it, others consider it a moral outrage; some people online have it, and others can't play with them anymore; some people can afford it, other people can't.

The latest batch of [app=6451]Medal of Honor[/app] can address that last point, anyway. Two new multiplayer modes are rolling out the door, one free, and one premium. Everyone wins.

Outrageously good value compared to the MW2 map packs of old maps for 15$.

Game modes should not be paid DLC (especially on PC).

I hope that no server admins run Hot Zone on their servers.

I don't mind DLC / Mini expansions etc on games that are REALLY popular and are on my FAV games list, like Battlefield 2, Test Drive Unlimited 2 that I'm a BETA tester on, But on a game like this that's rough as balls and just doesn't feel right AT ALL then no thanks.

A game needs to be A+ quality before I would consider buying DLC for, And MOH isn't unique in ANY!!! way, And neither is Black Ops for that matter, So I doubt I'll be buying DLC for either of them.

I will for TDU2, And Battlefield 3 though, And maybe others depending on how much I enjoy it.

When it comes to multiplayer games, the worst thing about DLC - and expansion packs, for that matter - is that it splits the community.

Maybe that's not such a huge issue in more densely populated places, but in Australia it's a pretty major negative.

I do agree with this completely, With games like TDU, When a PAID dlc came out, You could play with everybody else, They just couldn't buy / see your DLC car Which was quite cool, In the new one "Apparently" There working on making it so everyone can see the DLC stuff, Just not use / buy the cars etc.

In shooters though it can't really work as it's a "Disadvantage" and with the map packs etc, it's quite lame, So really, In FPS DLC doesn't USUALLY work, It was a little like Battlefield 2 Special forces, It was and probably still is MAJORLY popular over seas, But after a little while over here, There wasn't all that many SF nor the expansion packs in Australia, I don't really like America, But there's 1 thing I really do envy and wish we had - And that's more gamers, In America every game is pretty much guarenteed to always have a massive amount of people playing, Hell there's still like 30 or so popular SOF2 servers, But there's barely even 1 in Australia.

I will wait for the DLC if i decide to even get this game, And just see if theres many servers and players with them, If not then it's not worth even getting.

Surely a DLC 'works' only if it sells?

Anyway, the community is fragmented... in the playlists I can see 2000+ people playing TDM (cos they nub), just under 2000 people playing combat mission (bc2's Rush) and 700 playing sector control (old school flag capping). There's 70 and 66 people playing hot zone and clean sweep respectively. I haven't been able to play either yet so yeah, pretty much wasted my money and am feeling rather sour about it. People like me are the problem :)

Haha, But no DLC really "Works" In Australia, The amount of servers and players we have is NOTHING like the U.S. And as soon as DLC devides the players up even more because some won't buy the DLC then there's even less players to play with.

If a game's seriously 1 of a kind, Then it's worth it, But for another standard MOH/COD/BC2 type game, 100% wouldn't even consider buying DLC for it, But if the game stands out of the croud, And has THOUSANDS of Aussies playing, then I'd prob get it.

I'm guessing DLC in Black ops WOULD work because there will be so many Aussies playing it, But I'm only getting the game to play with 1 or 2 people I know from Cricket, I doubt it'll be worth getting DLC.
