“The Sacrifice” is the prequel to "The Passing," and takes place from the Left 4 Dead Survivors' perspective as they make their way South. You may read the comic to find out the official version of events or this October 5th you may play the game to choose your own ending.

In "The Sacrifice" for Left 4 Dead, gamers receive the complete Sacrifice campaign with maps playable in Campaign, Versus, and Survival. There are 5 new achievements, a new style finale and plenty of places for devastating Hunter pounces.

For Left 4 Dead 2, gamers receive “The Sacrifice” campaign and L4D1’s “No Mercy” both playable with the L4D1 Survivors. This version also offers 5 new achievements. In the L4D2 version of “The Sacrifice” each campaign is playable in Campaign, Versus, Survival, and Scavenge modes, and both "The Sacrifice" and L4D2 version of No Mercy feature the Left 4 Dead 2 Special Infected, items, and weapons. Yes, Zoey with a chainsaw!

I wonder if they'll eventually bring all the campaigns over from L4D1 to L4D2. That'd be great Parish > Dead Air > Dark Carnival > Blood Harvest

Try to run the game. Unless you've updated it should say something like unavailable or now updating.

Servers are about 40% updated, rest are slowly updating still.

Says game is unavailable. Try again another time. But still no updating! WTFFFFFFF

All of the servers were getting hammered yesterday so that was likely the cause of your problem. Only local download I could get was WAIA at about 40KB/s - ended up turning off steamwatch and getting it from OS.

As to the update itself - not too bad. Finale seems a little disjointed as does some of the speech (some speech is effectively missing too). Welcome to see the original survivors though.

No mercy port is pretty good though I think I like the unofficial one a little more. At least this one will be played though. Would like to see a good Dead Air port next.

Edit: If you have any custom glows - disable them or the game won't load. Hope they fix this

Yeah I know they were but I was hoping it would at least show up. Not even showing up today! Only thing that came up was a TF2 update that was going uber slow lol. Do I need L4D1 installed? Coz I didn't think I would...

Is it correct that this update is 800 MB for L4D but 3.5 GB for L4D2? Sounds a little bit large for the latter.

The L4D2 update includes models, textures, sound files for all of the L4D1 survivors, as well as The Sacrifice AND No Mercy maps. That's a lotta ****!

Yes it's 3.5GB

That may be a lot of ****, but I personally don't think that's worth half a game download.
