2D Characters
Stereotypical jap game
Still non westernized
I've gotta say, i have a soft spot for these kinds of random games, some games these days take themselves too seriously, and then you have crazy over the top jap games that make a mockery of themselves and most other games and are so terribly fun to play you want to recommend it to everyone, then when you get the chance to tell everyone about it, bam, no one gets it.
It's interesting when you mentioned the graphics, 2d chars on a 3d background in the clip looked pretty decent. I'd go so far as to say the dev's for the game probably didnt want to go to hard with the graphics to keep the overhead for the game to a minimum and keep the visual style of the predecessor, so you cant really mark them down for that, i mean, for the style of game and the gameplay dont really call for that much of a graphical improvement, and if they sell more it means they will have more budget for their next outing, be it a continuation or a new IP.
I like it when we get reviews like this and the Final Fantasy ones, like reading and watching movies, you can broaden your perspective and give your self a challenge by trying out games you dont think you'll be interested in or didnt know about, as opposed to waiting for news on the next big blockbuster and playing the top ten games on metacritic.
As i play majority FPS games along with the occasional sandbox and rpg, i enjoy it for the immersion and story telling, so when it comes to RTS i kinda feel a bit lost, but i'm still willing to try them, hell i bought StarCraft2 having never bought nor played the first purely on speculation from friends and co-workers who are blizzard fans, and to date it hasnt disappointed, unlike other franchises closer to my liking have recently (the last stalker, MW2:MP, BFBC2).
If anything, to those guys who cant see appreciation in the game posted, try it before you say things like 'lost a few IQ points watching' or 'another pokemon' you gotta remember that these kinds of games sell for a reason, and hell, not like someones gonna pay you out for playing a game, right?
