But of course! It makes up for the less than stellar wages

A fair trade off I think!

How does one qualifify as a games journo?

/contemplates setting up a shitbox website and putting reviews on it for certain "perks"..

That actually isn't a bad idea, set up a site, have an abn, put up a **** review once a fortnight and sit back and claim all your gaming expenses tax free. Could claim my node plan as well. PR recognition isn't really needed as you are only trying to claim stuff you paid for anyway.

Major problem I'd imagine is that you'd have to be able to prove that it's your major source of income.. or something?

Not sure, but surely It can't be that easy.

I'm in the process of building a rig, I have a seat out of an old Honda Prelude, some steel already cut and some nice timber already sanded. Just waiting to get some help welding the steel, the rest should come together pretty easily. My design includes reverse mounting of the g27 pedals.

Don't hold your breath for pics though, I've been waiting to weld for over a month. It'll get there eventually.

Well ive had my new wheelstandpro setup for just over a week now, and been very impressed and happy with it. Wouldnt enjoy going back to clamping to the desk anymore.

Decided to throw on my "Bennett" hat and did my own little review of the wheelstandpro. You can have a read here

The racing seat finally came by courier today. Couldn't wait to get it set up. (Some cable cleanup, etc needs to be done and still yet to set up my track IR5)

Nice cockpit Stubbs... How much did that set you back? And can the shifter easily be placed on either side with little hassle?

Nice one $tubbsy. How are you finding the seat? I'll send pics of my updated setup soon - I've figured out how to run the GTxtreme in both racing and flying mode, thanks to the addition of 2 x $40 side tables from Freedom.

Nice Bennet.

I'm really loving the seat aye. It's infinitely better than the desk clamp job I had running before.

After my initial setup. I had some issues with the pedal set slipping as I slammed the heal and toe braking technique. After a quick trip to Bunnings to purchase a couple of M6 bolts, they were locked in place and felt at the perfect angle.

The seat itself is really comfy, and I managed a good 6 or 7 solstice races on the Saturday, with very little fatigue. (Won 3 of them by the way!)

My only gripe so far is that I'm 6ft1 but like the steering wheel close to my body. I found that having the wheel on the longest setting - I couldn't tighten the bolts up enough to prevent the wheel from 'rocking.' So I had to settle for the 2nd hole. As Bennet mentioned in his review, there's a little bit of flex in the steering mount due to the way it was designed. It's not an issue, however I have to sometimes make sure I don't hang my hands too heavily on the wheel or it ends up flexing and touching my knees.

Overall though it's a great product, and coupled with the G27, I've got a great setup - all thanks to GoN :D I hope Bennet doesn't mind that I haven't taken F1 2010 out of it's case yet... I don't think I will anytime soon either, iRacing's just too good.

Yes - the frame is symmetrical, and only involves the removal of 2 bolts.
