AMD Drivers Support Super Shiny Starcraft II

Unread postby News Portal » 26 Aug 10, 8:50 am

We've been told that [app=2278]Starcraft II[/app] will run on damn near everything if you're willing to crank those sliders all the way down - but around these parts, we're rarely happy unless we can move all the way in the opposite direction. We like our bells to have whistles on them, and our rags to be exceptionally glad.

If you have an ATI graphics card, a recent driver upgrade has just enabled even greater beauty for your Zerg rushes, with full anti aliasing support.

Wonder if this fixes the ridiculous fps drop on maps with water. Found turning Catalyst AI off got me a huge fps increase (on 10.7 drivers at least).

Never noticed that. I'm more excited that they apparently fixed Borderlands.

Not hosted yet, just wait a bit. I assume Brenna doesn't have control over the file server, else it would have been added for the post.

Hope this fixes the excessive alt-tab time when in full screen. sick of playing in windowed mode.

You got a crossfire setup? I do, which might be the problem.

ATi drivers aren't as good with crossfire as Nvidias drivers are with SLi.

Yeah i have a Crossfire setup which works beautifully as long as you dont mind 20 second hangs when alt tabbing. Windowed mode, still fullscreen, fixes it but i get horrendous fps.

i dont have crossfire, no. It's just a common problem that Borderlands crashes often on most ATI configurations.

I'm fairly sure it's a Catalyst A.I problem. With it enabled I could watch Borderlands eat up (or leak?) memory until it runs out and then the game just hard locks. I disable Catalyst A.I and can play with no problems. For some reason it wouldn't stay disabled though after quitting/playing other games - I wouldn't notice and Borderlands would lock up again because it wasn't disabled. >.<

Will try the new drivers when I get home.

funnily enough more and more games I don't bother enabling AA on, partly because I can't crank everything up on newer releases partly because even though I get a solid 30fpf it just doesn't feel smooth these days anymore, must have 60fps >.<
