Win! Xbox 360 Elite and games

Unread postby News Portal » 4 Jun 10, 11:55 am

E3 is just a couple of weeks away, and this year's show is all about motion control. Most interesting of the two competing techs is Microsoft's Project Natal - and to celebrate the impending avalanche of Natal announcements, we're giving away an Xbox 360 Elite, along with a couple of games. To win, we want you to come up with a game concept that uses Natal.

Not really a new idea but, maybe a game that mixes Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and Alpha Protocol together. God the fun you could have with Natal and steal-espionage games.

Forget controllers, flick your wrist and throw a sticky camera, move your arms and choke hold someone till they pass out! Not to mention CO-OP Chaos Theory on the Natal would absolutely rock any current CO-OP.

ps. I think I just turn into a console fanboy instead of a console hater!

I think its simple, with natal I can throw my arm up with my hand spread out and throw back an army of droids using the Force! YES! FORCE POWERS! Push! Pull! Lighting! MINDTRICK! and if that's not enough natal can accurately mimic how I swing a lightsaber!

Common! who doesn't want natal to endow them with telekinetic abilities?!?

Air Guitar Hero

Youve played guitar hero, and you tried the wireless guitars, now try it without the need for all that pesky equipment.

imagine getting 100% in freebird as you slide your hands up and down the imaginary fret board and pick each invisible string with amazing precision, get the 3D version and you can prance about the stage as if you were actually there rocking out with all your favourite stars.

Match your hair style with the original singer for bonus points and start head banging to activate your star power. jump in the air for big notes and get down on your knees for those killer solos to earn those extra points. also in the challenge mode you can make up your own air guitar solo and have your mates try to match it with as many players as you want.

dont be limited by the controller when you could be a free as bird as you rock out with all your friends get AIR GUITAR hero today.

Black and White style game on the Natal.

What could be more fun than a fully interactive God Simulator?
Take care of your pet, pet it, feed it, throw a tree for it fetch.
Aid your villagers in building, bring couples together, sacrifice Worshipers at your Altar.
Smash your enemies with your mighty fists or throw fire balls into their city!
Shape the very land itself with your own hands, it would be like a massive high-tech sand pit for you to play in.

I so want to play that :P

Edited for better wording and errors

A game that teaches you how to use sign language can be done with Natal. The virtual instructor can show you the sign and it's meaning, then natal can track your hands, fingers, arms and face to see how you're doing.

Then there can be challenges for reading text using sign language, a social chat feature to sign to friends over Xbox LIVE (with Natal doing English translations on the screen to help you learn), and my favourite - sign posts to Twitter and Facebook status updates.

If Natal can handle tracking two people at once, there could even be races to sign a passage of text faster than your friend.

It's not a super fun sounding game, but it can teach people a skill for life and help to integrate the deaf community into gaming - and help them make friends.

It can be called: "What? Oh!"

Well my idea is to combine an actio game and rts multiplayer game.
you have you commander wo plays the rts side of things controlling building placements and weapon upgrades (minority report style).

While as the grunt controls hud and vehcile (mechs) usinging motions.

Magic Spell Casting Game.

This first person RPG uses Natal to allow the player to cast magical spells by means of hand motions and 'drawing' magical symbols in the air.

Simple spells like Fireball are cast by grasping the air and then flinging out your hand in the direction you wish to launch the projectile.

More complex spells require the magician to enter 'casting mode' where they draw a symbol in the air such as a circle or a star, which could grant shield effects or put enemies to sleep. The hardest spells require both hands used in coordination to cast.

Some spells allow the magician to speak a ‘power’ word while casting, which grants the spell a special bonus effect.

A spell that isn't drawn 100% properly may still be cast, but will not be at full strength. There is also a chance that badly cast spells will misfire and negatively affect the magician instead.

The single player game involves many different enemies and puzzles that need to be overcome by clever spell choice, including battles with other spell casters. A multiplayer 'duelling' mode allows for magicians to test their knowledge and quick casting against each other.

That was almost a good idea... but deaf people can read normal words and play games. They're deaf not blind :P

A puzzle adventure game would be brilliant if it could be incorporated with natal. Hand movements would be captured to activate switches and pull levers. Puzzles would consist of activities to test your reflexes, timing, and brain power. All puzzles would have some sort of physics base, so rotating, throwing, and placing objects would be involved. The puzzles would become increasingly difficult as the story and game progressed, with some puzzles requiring you to traverse the entire map to solve them.

The game world would consist of multiple zones, with each succeeding zone made accessible by various items and/or puzzles that are completed. The zones would be semi-open ended allowing diversity in which puzzles you solve first, although some activities would only become available after certain tasks have been completed or items collected ect. Zones would be diverse, with some dark and misty (think woods) and others bright and sunny. Time would also affect the zones, with some things revealed only during the night and vice-versa.(options would be available to skip time)

Would maybe type a bit on a possible story but I'm getting too close to the word limit!

Who want's to be a mime?

Since Natal incorporates both visual and audio into its processing, it is possible to be able to tell if someone is doing a good job at being a mime.

There are several mime 'routines' built into the base game (with support for future DLC routines) which the player must try and perform. The goal is to keep your face as neutral as possible, be as silent as possible and not show you are faking it.

If noise is detected you lose points.
If there is a change in your facial animations, you lose points.
If the camera detects that there is a difference in your hands (eg. they are supposed to be on a wall but one hand is too far forward) you will lose points.

A game where you have interrogate suspects, and there's lots of mindgames as you try to read them and they try to read you. They respond to your body language, tone and facial expressions. You may have to tell a convincing lie or bluff in order to get them to confess. I'd buy this in a second!

Green Man
I realise I can't actually win this competition.

Using the power of Natal you are transformed into a glorious green man.

Spixel, an original game concept by Schwolop.

You probably already know that all the information you see on your XBox 360 Elite is made up of tiny coloured squares of light called pixels. What you don't know is that these pixels aren't independent entities. They're a swarm. A collective intelligence with a hive mind and ferocious intellect.

And now it's insane!

Powered by the exciting motion control available with Project Natal, Spixel is a real-time puzzle game with a twist. The Spixel's hive mind is only as powerful the pixels it controls - confuse it for long enough and the pixels lose their independence and return to powering your XBox's graphics.

Use your hands to draw walls, block and capture pixels, and perform gesture-based attacks to subvert the Spixel's wishes! Watch as the Spixel taunts you by mimicking your own facial features! Answer the Spixel's interrogations with natural speech, or lose your pixels forever!

The Spixel must be stopped, or else your XBox will never be the same again!

---

P.S. (Not part of competition entry) I've actually written a very early prototype of this game for PC, with the pixels losing independence as their pathfinding routines require more and more CPU time. The more maze-like environment you can draw, or the more frequently you force the pixels to change their routes, the faster the Spixel loses control. It's really quite fun, and I think it would work pretty well with motion control instead of mouse and keyboard.
