Competition: Metro 2033

Mine might be a little more primitive than most. I call it the "Shower shotgun".

It consists of a shower curtain rail sawn to a suitable size, a shotgun shell in the back and a lighter to heat the explosive cap. Of course the cap would explode backwards as well, so I have provided a trowel blade as a face shield. Also, any sharp item you can find can be taped to the business end of the device. I did a quick mockup in blender.

In true MacGyver style this is made from the most simple of objects, all you will need is,

1 Glue Stick
4 Elastic Bands
1 Jerry Can
1 Hose
1 Spray gun, alternatively use your MacGyver skills to modify a pistol to work the same way, use skewer and nail and witty remarks.
1 Leather belt for a cozy strap
1 Lighter, if lighter is not available, make fire with magnifying glass, 1 pigeon and 3 twigs



Use 2 elastic bands to attach hose to jerry can and spray gun.
Glue over elastic bands to make sure it isnt going anywhere!
Craftily attach leather belt to jerry can with glue and elastic bands, remember your arts and crafts skills.
You have now successfully made an incredibly dangerous weapon, dangerous to both you and the enemy.

Fill up jerry can with petrol

Saw Gun

The Saw Gun is, simply, a saw or two attached to a really really fast motor, powered by any battery (sadly, 1 AAA battery operates at 70RPM). (The more, the faster). Estimated fastest RPM is very, VERY fast. (101,000RPM )

Stuff needed:
Minimum 3 saws (or just any sharp object you have, if your too cheap for a saw)
A motor (you know, those stuff you can find in remote control cars, helicopter blades, RC helicopters, etc)
Battery (2 car batteries optimum, 10 AAA batteries minimum, or any power source)
6 copper Wires
Metal Handle (if you want a portable people-killing-thing)
Camo Duck Tape (in case stuff fall off, put lots and for camo)

Optional:
Adaptors (easier for connecting to other power sources, easier fitting batteries etc)
small LCD (for power usage monitoring, RPM rate)
Saw Fan chipset (if using LCD)
Fancy case, or empty plastic milk bottle (to show off and so internals don't fall off)
Sexy sticker

Constructed quickly and simply of common gaming peripherals, the Logi-flail is every gamers answer to a mutant infested post-apocalyptic Russian rail system.

Here is my idea for the competiton.

First of all, i found this a lot of fun to create, mainly because i love the whole 'home-made gun' thing. I was much a fan of it in fallout 3 and love the fact it is somewhat similar to the weapons in Metro 2033.
Below is my entry, but the things that make up this weapon which i have named 'The Mum Nailer' (yes, i am aware it is sexually suggestive, but it was not my intention) are as follows:

1 x bag of Steel nails = Ammo
1 x Spray can = Ammo Cannister
1 x Metal Tube = Rifle Barrel
1 x Binocular Lens = Scope/Aiming Sights
1 x Kitchen stove/oven ligher = Trigger
1 x Breadknife/Kitchen knife = Gun handle
1 x Roll of Duct-tape = Holding the cannisters Together along with the gun
1/2 x Pneumatic Cannister (optional additional cannister can be mounted on other side) = Projectile Firing

If you're out of nails, just load up some of your dogs biscuits into the gun and fire away, that is, if your dog has not ended up with rabies or mutated like some of the things in metro 2033...

The range would be fairly good, but for best effect you'd want to be somewhat close to the target, which is a bit risky but i am sure you can manage a stealthy approach with a small semi-handgun type weapon.


About the name, well, i thought about mostly kitchen appliances when first creating this, thus the kitchen oven/stove lighter, kitchen knife, General kitchen things mothers have in their arsenal of utensils.
Just threw 'nailer' on the end, due to the fact it shoots... well.. nails.

This is assuming a few different things:
a) This competition is referring to a weapon useful to a person who is struggling in the Metro world, and not something that would be best suited for somebody today with the resources that they have with them.
b) That in said post nuclear environment commodities like Fuel and ammunition would become scarcer and be of higher values as to be harder to obtain.
c) If a weapon is to be made from everyday items then it needs to be able to be adapted quickly to whatever you may have at the time, thus specialist items would be not suitable to use as the person following any instructions on the creation of a weapon may have to venture perilously to find said items.

My idea is simple, create a device that can withstand continuous use and have no parts (other than ammunition) that would need to be replaced like fuel or batteries.

Essentially my idea revolves around the fact that a Nail Gun is a pretty potent weapon, and if harnessed through a non power absorbing means then It may provide useful weapon.
The basic premise behind a Nail gun is that through Pneumatic Pressure you can force a nail into things at a high velocity.
This would be good however the high pressure air is usually gained through a diesel or electric powered pump.
Therefore my idea is that you would have specially modified shoes that have air compressors in the soles, so that they not only cushion your feet when trudging through the murky depths of the Metro, but also so that you can pump air in to a pressurized tank on your back.
This then feeds into a Nail gun that would be Modified so that it can fire different projectiles, rather than being grounded to only using special nails that would be hard to find a continuous supply of.
Thus the Nail gun would be modified with a longer barrel made out of piping, it would also have an ammo canister or hopper similar to those used on Paintball weapons.

The Large Hard-face Collider.

Ever wanted to have the possibility of taking two baddies out at once? Ever thought a uni-directional gravity gun was for chumps? Well this is the weapon for you! Made from common materials, this bad boy will have you laughing with glee from the face-smashing goodness.

Required items:
- lots of isolated conducting cable (can be found in any motor)
- lots of iron
- lots of batteries
- remote switch
- launcher (optional)

Create two rods of iron wrapped tightly with copper cable, connect each end of the wire to the batteries, with the remote switch controlling whether it is on or off. The final product should look like two cylindrical rods. Sharpen one end to streamline the insertion procedure.

Find two things you want to slam together, stick the rods in them (optionally, fire them at a distance if you don't feel like running around), flick the switch, watch Maxwell's Laws at work and hear the bone crunching goodness when the two objects magnet-magically come together. If there is only one person you want to dispose of, be creative! Stick one in a wall!

Expected final velocities can get up to 200km/hr from an initial seperation of 25m, so don't get too close!

For day 1 I would like to suggest the Nytnhka Molotov, named after a popular brand of Russian vodka!

One thing in abundance in post apocalyptic Russia has got to be vodka. When the situation is desperate, no one is able to claim they are not a proud warrior of Soviet Russia, and so the most basic items become your weapons against the creeping darkness. Grab a bottle of Vodka, chuck a torn piece of rag in the top, light it up with your cigar (trust me, stogies add weight to your hero'esque visage) and scream "Nytnhkaaaaaaaaargh!" at the top of your lungs as you light up some mutant baddies.

Can even use bits of your own clothing if you find yourself unable to source other suitable fuses for the Nytnhka Molotov. What would you rather be, naked? Or dead?

The Nytnhka Molotov doubles up as a source of light when the mutant baddies are dispatched, and you are moving from area to area. In addition the vodka can be used to 'persuade' people around to your cause in the various camps around the Metro and easily integrate yourself into what were previously closed circles of friends. Really, in the cold dark tunnels of the Metro, wouldn't you want some good booze to hand? I know I would.

The Nytnhka Molotov. Made from items you will find in excess. Multiple uses. A patriotic weapon if ever there was one!

The **** Flinger 2033

1x plastic spoon
1x Bucket + **** (**** the best if it can be found)
and as much wire that can be found.

Use of **** Flinger

1. Put a hole near the end of the spoon.
2. Feed wire through end of the spoon.
3. Find a good place to hide, so that when you spread the **** around no one knows you did it.
4. Dip the spoon in oil to coat it then dip it in the ****(preferablly steaming hot **** if you can find it) making sure it is evenly applied on the spoon. (The reason for coating in oil is to get the maximum amount of **** on the spoon for greater damage, quicker results in fatalities and less krusty's left behind)

5. If you start flinging some **** or some premium grade **** prematurely you will be discovered.

WARNING!!!! The use steaming hot **** is hazardous to you and the health of other innocents so wear a hazmat suit and do not use in confined spaces.

The use of steaming hot **** in massive quantities is lethal at all ranges so use some other **** thats safe in confined spaces like pig ****,dog ****,bird **** or cat ****. Always remember lots of **** destroyed our world so use accordingly to the job needed.

So remember the power is in you, have a happy hunting and a safe day.

The Fartliter.(pronounced Fart Lighter)

The year is 2031 You are are on the quest for survival while on your adventure you come across horribly mutated monsters and the chase begins after running many blocks you decide to take cover in a near by building you soon realise your out of ammo and out of luck as you find yourself in a Joke shop the Mutants are closing in you catch a glimpse of a poster on a wall the picture displays a cartoon child lighting his fart.. It dawns on you the only way to survive is to live your childhood dream(now when you were a child who didnt want to light the farts come on..) you find a bag of joke candy labelled Fart Candy you shove half a bag in your mouth you look around and find some tubing hanging from the roof you grab it and place one end in you hand and the other... errr( see diagram) you find a can and punch each out attaching it to the end of the tubing you poke a whole in the end of the tubing and find some compressed air cans you place on in face the out direction(not towards your butt) and finally you come across a lighter.. it is set up the ultimate weapon a weapon that makes a childs dream come true the final component a lighter the mutants close in and as they go the candy kicks in its time.... end result :

Napalm Launcher


Premise:
Styrofoam was used to pack just about anything, so should be plentiful.
Condoms should have little use to people as repopulation is a priority.
Forces heavily armored Human oppents to remove their protection.
Effective against large groups or enemies in cover.

Required Items:
Gasoline
Styrofoam
Basic wide wooden/metal stock
Tin Can
Crossbow Mechanism
Condoms
Wick

Gasoline and Styrofoam are mixed to create a Napalm-like substance. A sticky, highly flamable paste.

Condoms are filled with this concoction and sealed around a Wick.

Tin Can is cut in half (but leaving the bottom intact) and attached to the top of the Crossbow Mechanism on the Stock to act as a cradle for the payload.

Wick is lit and the payload is loaded into the can to be fired at the enemy. The Napalm solution will have partialy degraded the Condom so explosion on contact is certain.

On contact the Condom will burst and the Wick will ignite the contents. The Napalm will cover a wide area, setting both the enemy and their cover alight, causing havoc and death.

Simple,

Get two odd pieces of straightened scrap metal lying around or break one off if its protruding out. Then tie the two together using either rope/string or any piece of wire also lying around (or if you have the tools weld) then add some form of high elasticity material to it and make a crossbow (haven't played game yet don't know if this is in it. Then all you need to do is find small bits of metal to fire off it. Its a metro? I'm sure withered old scrap metal will be plentiful.

Ok so my weapon pretty much requires some kittens and an awesome ninja sword or kung fu skillz....
Requirements:

1 x toy sniper rifle
1 x plastic ninja sword

the result....
You tell this little fella to go and camp somewhere while the ninja moves in and gives them some kung fu action.

(note that all packages are sold seperately.... Thats right we still rip you off in a post apocalyptic Russia.)

MacGyver singshot. The Pen > Sword.

1x Ruler
1x Decent rubber band
and multiple pens/pencils as ammo.


Simply hold the ruler in an erect fashion put the rubber band around the top of the ruler and use that to sling shot the pen or pencil at your foes privates or other soft areas.

An extra attactment could be using a 50cent piece to carve out grooves for the rubber band and also cutting another groove at the top for the pen to shoot through.

Adds a whole new meaning to "the pen is mightier than the sword". Something MacGyver can use when thanking whoever inspired his invention.

Electromagnetically Propelled Flamethrower. "Rail Flamer"

The biggest problem with flamethrowers is they require a high pressure to achieve long ranges. High pressures require bigger heavier canisters, and are more dangerous to the user. To alleviate this you use the principal used in rail guns: electric current traveling in opposite directions in parallel wires will induce a (potentially very large) force on any conducting material between the wires.

Basically a non-ferrous pipe (aluminum) has two large conducting rods placed either side of it, these rods are hooked up to a large battery and a capacitor. The capacitor allows for the necessary large currents to be provided in bursts.
The pipe is then hooked up to a canister of napalm mixed with iron filings - the iron filings will experience the force from the opposing currents and be propelled rapidly down the pipe carrying the napalm with them. They would have the added effects of increasing the fluid density so it travels further and leaving molten iron all over your target.

- Napalm isn't a necessity, any flammable liquid will do.
- Iron filings - file some iron duh!
- When all else fails place some Old Spice in the canister, shoot yourself and offer the mutants two tickets to that thing they like.
