If you frequently find yourself in the above situation and you're often left oblivious to the cause, please add the Official BFBC2 Twitter page and the Battlefield Blog to your bookmarks.

Now that you're all able to keep up with the latest news concerning the EA servers and the game itself, please stop **** about EA Online related problems in other threads.

To the more reasonable members of the community, would you be so kind as to help update this thread with any current EA server happenings, especially if there are no updates on the twitter page.

For example:

As of XX:XX PM ACDT/ACST, the servers are currently down for/because <assumed reason>.

and

As of XX:XX PM ACDT/ACST, the servers are currently down for/because <assumed reason>.

The servers are now online.

As of ~6:40 PM ACDT,

EA servers are currently down for maintenance, they'll be back online as soon as possible.

EA maintenance has now finished, you can now get back in game and get your morning fix of Battlefield Bad Company 2.

You need to be level 21 (or 22, or possibly 23) to have silver dog tags

Via the Battlefieldd Blog:

Tomorrow, 12th March, and Saturday, 13th March at 8:00GMT/9:00 CET:12:00 (midnight) PST, EA will take the servers down, this time we will come up with even more hardware with more capacity to handle all the BFBC2 traffic. Once the maintenance is complete you will experience an improvement to your online experience.

This will be extended maintenance to allow the new hardware to be installed and affect all three platforms (PC, PS3 and Xbox 360).

EA Maintenance has now completed. All new hardware is in place and ready to server your BFBC2 needs.

Last lot of maintenance went for ~2 hours, so I'd wager...3-4 (at least!) given this is 'extended maintenance' . Probably the same again tomorrow night...
