GCAP 2009 -- Indie Game Submission date: Friday 30 October

Unread postby TheMeadow » 2 Sep 09, 7:33 pm

Hey all,

Anyone entering GCAP (Games Connect Asia Pacific) Independant Games competition should know already that submission date this year is Friday 30th of October.

This gives the judges a month to sort through all the enteries to find the finals who will present their games AT The conference and be judged on the following categories.
* Best Gameplay
* Best Graphics
* Best Unsigned Game

More info can be found about it: http://www.gameconnectap.com/games.html

Anyone entering? Anyone know of anyone entering? I should be if I can get this games I'm working on polished and finished. I also know most of the QANTM final project teams in Brisbane are also entering their games. So it should be a good competition this year.

This has been up for a while now and as the submission date fast approaches, I think I have a better question:

Anyone know a game that will actually get selected?

I see a lot of talk and not very much walk this year.

Well, if you end up entering good luck! I liked the look of the submissions for that last competition, and with more than 48 hours it would be great to see what you, and other independent developers can do :mrgreen: .

Program and Registration for the even is up and man does the program look good.

Little bit pricey, but totally worth it for the event

I am part of a team that will be submitting a game to GCAP this year. QANTM College must take out the top honors yet again, we must!

Yea, I am at the Melbourne Campus. (ps. QANTM Melbourne > Brisbane ;))

Well the beta version of our game has been submitted today. Now to wait (and keep working for 5 weeks). We have a youtube channel up with some videos....mostly bugs....and mostly caused (and later fixed) by me ;). Bug videos are in no way an accurate representation of how the game is.

Our company name is Surface Studios and the name of the game is Axis Mundi.

Hahah Nope - try Chariots of Fire ;)

Yeah, some of those YouTube vids are our classic development vids we have been capturing from time to time - just crazy screwups that are worth capturing for a laugh.

Will try to get some actual game play ones at some stage on there soon...

Beta of Axis Mundi is in to GCAP from us here at Melb - here is hoping we hear back from the panel!
How'd U Brissie ppl go so far? Get the entries in on time I hope?!
Be good to meet up when you head down - keep in touch :)

As far as I know, everyone from Brisbane Qantm who planned on submitting did indeed submit successfully. I am totally racked until monday though - there's been some good entries and some bad entries this year. It could still go any which way!

Word is the judges are the same as last year, which is encouraging. Otherwise I'm expecting a MAJOR upset when all the selections are from unknown country teams. That'd be pretty funny really.
