Steam: host more mods, take over world

While a lot of the news that comes out of Steam is "This game is updated" and "This game is on sale", sometimes they do pull out little gems that really do improve the community.

Like this one - as part of [comp=62]Valve[/comp]'s continuing show of support towards the modding community, they are going to host (selected) mods directly on the Steam servers, starting next week. They're kicking things off with a selection of five, with plenty more to come - and promise that these user-created modifications will be free to anyone who owns any Source game!

DIPRIP might be alright if there were more than 5 servers in the world and people playing in serves with lower ping than 1000. else it looks ok. just havnt had the pleasure of doing anything with it..

LDM from [r.]ebellion clan (the dod:s clan I'm in) is working on Zombie panic making prop models (?) so there is an Aussie connection in there.

Hope we can get a few aussie servers up on these mods so we can see what they are like.

Great news

Might give us a chance to get a group of GON'ers together for the new Synergy release. A few of us played the older version, and it is awesome fun.

Hopefully this update will see mods becoming a lot more popular. Definitely good to see large companies like Valve encouraging it as well. If only it was more widespread

And +1 to more Australian servers! I'm sure GON will provide servers if there is demand
