It's been a weekend of interesting events in the FPS world. One of those events is the eagerly-awaited release of the new version of the popular Insurgency mod, bringing the title up to 2.1RC.

A total conversion mod for Half-Life 2, INS (as it is commonly known) takes the players to an intense online combat experience based around modern battlefields and infantry combat. The use of tactics and teamwork is encouraged in order to destroy your enemies.

If you want to check this out, we've got the full client right here (664MB), and we're also hosting the updated server files, too. The game is totally free to download and play (if you already have a copy of Half-Life 2), so what are you waiting for?

Are people still playing this? I remember the long long ago when it was first released; I thought it was totally awesome! If people are still at it I think I might have to download

Awesome mod, downloading now. Hopefully there will be more players around. Though, I'll admit I haven't checked the servers in a while.

SWEET, the initial Public BETA was awsome an absolute bucket of fun with some minor problems (ie: crashes, random gun glitches) and then the 2nd BETA killed it IMO. Hopefully they have gone back to some of the original concepts.

excellent, this is a sweeet mod. i played from the word go and loved every minute. let's keep the severs populated now!

I agree, shame it had so many crashing bugs and stuff at the start.. drove most players away I think.

i played all day sunday on the node server
with the guys from ANZINS {great community site} go have a look at there site.

i have been playing this mod since it first came out. beta 1.0
it has had some issues as commented on in other posts.
this version is by far the best yet.
remember that you need to have SDK base as well as HL2 for it to work
there is also a small patch u need to fix a problem with suppression effect
u get pink and black checkers when u are hit.
