How to submit a Cheat or Troublemaker Report?
There are 3 important things you need when submitting a TMR. Evidence, a screenshot of the players GUID, and a screenshot of the scoreboard showing it happened on an GoN server.
Out of those 3 things, the screenshot of the scoreboard is the least important as we do have access to logs, but we encourage you to include it. Evidence, and a screenshot of the players GUID, however, must be included or the TMR will not be accepted. Details on how to demo and get a players GUID follow. Once you have everything required, you will need to zip or rar them into one file, and submit the Cheat or Troublemaker Report by clicking the 'Contact Us' link at the top of the website. (Or just click here)
Please get as much proof as possible. If the evidence provided is lacking we may be unable to input a ban.
How to Record a Demo (CoD4):
Open the console (push the ~ key, ~ key plus Shift to open full console)
Type: /record 'playername'
Spectate the player (remember that what gets recorded is whatever you look at)
Spectate a player: Press esc, change team, spectator.
Scroll through players: Left mouse button for forward, Right mouse button for backwards.
To free roam around the map: Press esc, change team, spectator - or esc, auto assign, back and use your mouse for direction and left and right lean for up and down. We prefer however that demo's are submitted from the player in questions view.
The recorded demo file is created in \Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\main\demos
Or for Steam - \Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\main\demos
To stop recording: /stoprecord
To view a demo:
1) Put the demo in \Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\mods\modwarfare\demos (create the demos folder if its not there) and remember the name of it.
For Steam: \Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\Mods\Modwarfare\demos
2) Launch cod4mp go to mods, double click modwarfare, open the console and type: /demo (demoname)
To stop a demo: /disconnect Please keep demo's between 3 to 5 mins don't keep recording map after map thank you.
For Vista/Win 7 users:
Basically, in Windows vista the User Account Control feature (when enabled) actively blocks writes to the Program Files directory. The M$ dev team however know that many apps like to write or cache data to their own root directory so ... enter teh wonderful world of virtualisation. Basically vista detects, and re-directs the requests to write data to a virtualised directory in your user profile. To find this location you will need to enable hidden files and folders viewing however for cod 4, screenshots and demos are written to:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\main
\demos or \screenshots
If you're running vista and have UAC enabled, you will also find that your cod 4 profile is also located here instead of program files
Please remember to get as much proof as possible, a screenshot of the GUID list, and a screenshot of the scoreboard showing it is an GON server. If any of these is left out, we may be unable to ban the player.
How to obtain a players GUID:
Open the console (for full console hold shift and ~ (button above tild) at the same time
Type: /pb_plist
You will be presented with a list of players and their guid's.
Type: /screenshotjpeg and a screenshot will be created in \Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\main\screenshots
Or for Steam - \Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\main\screenshots
A players GUID is linked to their cd key and is unique to that player. Every copy of the game has a different cd key, and therefore a different GUID. We must have a players GUID in order to ban them, and it must be provided in the form of a screenshot.
Taking a screenshot of the scoreboard:
Press Tab and then F12 to take a screenshot. We need to see that it is an Internode server and the player must be in the list.
I need an admin now! How do I find one?
If you are in server and require the assistance of an admin, the best way to call one is in IRC. If you do not have an IRC client and are not familiar in the use of it, you can use the link at the top of the website here. Or, if you use an IRC client clicking here will take you directly to #gamesonnet (or just click my sig).
Once you enter the room, read the topic as it will show you how you can call an admin. Basically you need to type !admin <game>, <server>, <offender name>, <offence>. This will alert and admins available in the admin IRC channel. If someone is available, they will help you. Admins are volunteers and as such there may not always be someone able to hop straight in server. If that happens, please obtain evidence and submit a TMR appropriately.
Alternatively, many admins use Xfire and don't mind players adding them. Search the Xfire sticky in these forums for the usernames of admins. Some will also provide you their msn (I won't
Posting in the forums to the effect of 'zomg!1!! therez a hax0r in da server I NEED HELP!' is not useful as we will likely not see the post in time. IRC is your best bet.
I've been banned what can I do?
Firstly, bans will not be discussed anywhere other than a ban appeal. If you make a thread it will be locked. If you PM an admin they will tell you to submit a ban appeal. You can access the ban appeal page via 'Support Tools' at the top of the website, or just click here.
You must include your GUID when you appeal a ban. If you don't, we will just reply to you asking for it. To save your time and ours, make sure you include it. A ban appeal will not be actioned unless a GUID has been provided.
To obtain your GUID either:
Open console and type
/pb_myguid
or
/pb_plist
Make sure you copy it down exactly. Obviously to get your GUID you will need to join a server you're not banned from..
General CoD forum information/rules
-We do not name and shame players. If you have evidence against a player it must not be posted on the forums.
-Be nice. This should go without saying. Abusive posts will be removed.
