How so? Except for those maybe 3 articles that have managed 30 posts (a mere 2 pages in the old system) most articles have struggled to get even 10 posts.
This is patently false. I don't have any figures for the old system so I will collate the last week of posts, how many comments they received and what the content was about. Not that many posts in the old system got 2 pages mate.
There were a total of 359 comments on front page posts over the past week, so an average of 51/day, or roughly 11/post. That's very high for a games site, if you compare it to others of our size and locality like Kotaku, Ausgamers, GameArena etc.
Features got roughly more comments than news on average, although popular news did very well. Roughly 80% of *all* posts recieved at least 5 comments, and 60% received more than 10. That's hardly *struggling*. On top of this, the number of comments is also substantially higher, per post, than it was on the old system. This month we have gained almost 2000 comments overall, that's a staggering figure, especially when people were predicting that discussion would die (it hasn't) and people would brush off the comment system (they haven't).
I've bolded the posts that received more than 10 comments. You'll see the ones that didn't make it there probably weren't interesting enough for anyone to actually want to talk about them in any length.

The forums are dying!
No, they aren't. I've been assured by people with admin level forum access (that I don't have) that average post count hasn't dropped or dipped at all since the changes were made. Obviously, news posts have gone from the forum to the front page, which is going to impact the frequency of posting, but other forums have not budged or changed from their original trends.
But hey, subjective analysis is always something that's easier to claim. If you 'feel' the forums are dead or that the front page comment system is failing, then fair enough. But the figures just don't stack up.
