Kickstarter - Mantic aims for $5000, gets over $280,000

Up and coming tabletop gaming company Mantic Games puts up a kickstarter aiming for $5000, and gets almost $300,000. 10 hours to go.

They also provided so many rewards and such out of the kickstarter, that everyone that helped basically got an awesome deal simply by donating.

A friend is trying to get me back into Warhammer 40K, but this looks maybe a bit more appealing. It helps that it's not Games Workshop who have been terrible with pricing and stamping out discounters.

Some of those higher tier rewards look great!

The price difference between this and Gamesworkshop is **** unbelievable.
Looking at about 4x the amount of stuff for the same price and thats not including the kickstarter extras included here.

Best part is, if you are a Warhammer player, most of the units are interchangeable! (for home games)

Edit: I say all this, not being a Mantic player, or owning a single Mantic miniature.
I purchased the $275 kickstarter because it looked like the best value, and look forward to having a **** load of stuff at some point in the future.

I would very much like to play, but realistically, there will be next to nobody to play with. I'd end up with a whole bunch of very pretty, cheap (compared to GW) miniatures, that I can't really do anything with.

It'd probably be pretty good for those who play with friends or at a club. If you can collect two small armies at a reasonable cost then you'd be able to run introductory games. And then if those friends saw how cheap it was compared to GW, they might be willing to get their own.

I contacted Mantic for one of my friends, and was sent this.

Of course your friend can take part, we'd hate for him to miss out! Please ask him to email me directly at stewartgibbs87_AT_gmail_DOT_com to tell me which reward level he would like to choose, and I'll send him a survey. Once he's completed that, I can send him a Paypal invoice for his pledge.
