Good/cheap LAN places in Melbourne?

Good/cheap LAN places in Melbourne?

Unread postby EveT » 16 Jun 12, 9:49 pm

My partner's 30th is coming up, and I'm planning to organise a LAN with about 15-20 of his mates somewhere in Melbourne. Does anyone know of any good places?

Also, any suggestions of games that 15-20 people might play? I've only done LAN with about 10 people, but not 15-20, and am not really into FPSs myself, but my partner and his mates probably will be.

If it's in Sunshine try not to park your car there.

Park in next town and catch a cab >_>

that's the place! I've never been, obviously.. yet.. :dodgy: only been constantly told about it (as well as everything else Melbourne has, and why Cairns fails.)

Haha I was surprised myself why it took so long for people to reply! D'oh!

But ooh.. Fun City... I don't see anything about LAN areas on their website, but have shot them an email, so fingers crossed! And yea, I'm not a huge fan of Sunshine either... -shifty eyes-

When I was living back in Carnegie, there were a couple of LAN shops on the main street, but wanted something a bit more central too. I don't think my partner's mates will mind travelling for LAN, but hrm. *shrug*

Thanks for the suggestions though! Keep 'em coming, in case Fun City doesn't actually offer that! :)

P.S. CelticAngel, yes, Melbourne has everything and Cairns doesn't. Just y'know, re-iterating it. ;)

Bummer, just got a reply back from FunCity (quicksnap!), and nope, they don't have any LAN gaming areas. Back to square one... :(

EDIT: Oh, might have found one on a thread on Whirlpool. Cydus: http://www.cydus.com.au/ if anyone's interested.

There is also a few places in the CBD. MidCity is a place near RMIT's City campus that I've been to, it's quite good. You might want to call ahead before showing up with 20 people though :P

Haha yea, will definitely be booking a place. This is actually for a party in August, so planning well in advance for it to make sure everything's organised!

Thanks Capt.no0b, but already made a booking with Cydus. Will keep that one in mind though! ;)

Ok, now on to the next question, what games can you play with approximately 20 people (that aren't FPS, because we know heaps of FPS games, but I'm not a huge fan of them)? :?

Only other genre I can think of that supports that many is possibly racing games. Sims are another chance, but they are still mostly FPS.
