I remember IGN.. and when irc servers were hosted over on ETG (which was apparently a box with ETG scrawled on the side).. I joined sometime after my partner Counciller started playing nwn on the Edon servers - I joined their irc channel at the time purely for the social aspect, then started playing nwn myself.. then joined the forums not long after.. making friends with a few who i am still close to today, (northernmenace and zifnab who are now celebrating their 2nd year of wedded bliss, have been good RL friends of ours for some time now) Talcos who i lost contact with due to his stupidness over the years.. but am still pretty good friends with some other old schoolers.

I do remember many dirty laundries being aired on IGN, and lots of endless abusive spam/flooding from a few angry players who were banned for whatever reason..

Well, I wasn't here that early but I do miss the grey and orange from when I started here Ended up addicted to the (at the time) IGN NWN servers, found the forums about a year after, then got addicted to the forums. I still facepalm at some of the ridiculous posts I made back then. >_> Nowadays I just lurk for the most part and save the posting for the NWN forums. Mostly.
