Assuming the actual screen is 27" and that the 27" doesn't include the bezel, that works out to a pixel density of 81.589.. jpg's are saved at 72 ppi if I remember correctly so it can't be TOO bad. Most monitors are closer to 90-100 range in ppi though.

I've been using a 27" Asus for ages.. anything else seems too small now. I love it.

If it's running at 1920x1080 and you you're not noticing any problems then that's a good sign. I don't think it'd look that much worse unless you were REALLY close to it.

I've got no complaints about pixels or blockiness. The colours were a little less vivid then my old samsung monitor but it's easy fixed with some colour correction by my graphics software.

Alan Wake on Steam

Hope I don't end up regretting it later.

I don't think you will.

Interesting about the 1920x1080 27-inch monitors. I was considering grabbing myself a new 3D monitor, and the 27-inch Samsung caught my eye.
I do miss my old 2560x1440 27-inch iMac's monitor, but it would be hell to try to play games again on such a high resolution.

So for general use, web browsing, word processing etc, you don't find 1920x1080 on 27-inches all that terrible?

I've been using a BenQ 27" 1080p monitor for months now - love it. Admittedly, I sit about 1m away from it, but I've never noticed any pitch issues. It's still a damn sight smaller than my 55" 1080p TV, mind you. :)

edit: And I didn't pay anywhere near the RRP for that BenQ - paid $378 from JB Hifi in October last year.
