Question: I know income for a trip/delivery is based on amount of cargo, distance and time. When does the 'time' start? When the vehicle starts loading, or when it leaves the station?

14? are you sure? isn't that god damn horribly slow to load? i usually match my train length with platform length other wise loading it gets far too slow.


Yep, in the first screenshot you can see that I have actually used a 10 tile platform, the train that is loading 100% is 20 length (2 loco's and 18 wagons), loading only slows to a crawl if you exceed the platform length. So if I made the train 21 (2 loco's and 19 wagons) it wouldn't fit in the platform and loading would be horribly slow.

yeah it does. you can join 2 stations up to make it longer kinda thing?

that's something i've noticed out of bordom "hey i wonder if i can put a station next to a station on the same line *boof* hey cool!"

Yeah, there is a setting, Station Spread I think from memory that you can increase and get much bigger stations, see below, notice the size of the main station at the town...

You can also "split" stations too (goes grabs screen)...

Notice that the station is on both sides of the tracks, hold down the CTRL key when you place a station, a little window will open with a list of stations close by. Select the one you want and the new station will become part of the other, but of course there is a limit to the range...

Edit: checked it, yeah it is the CTRL key, and the max station spread setting is under Stations in Advanced Options. :)

We're running the 1.2.0 version now - update if you haven't and you want to play :)

I'm looking at cloning the whole OpenTTD repository, including all previous version as well as the nightly builds, which will eventually be hosted on mirror.internode.on.net :)

I am slowly getting ym 2.5yo twins involved in this game. They are selecting the route that I build. Very bizzare rail networks are getting created.

Whoever Stefan is, they logged in, expressed distaste at it being mountains again, and logged out instantly before I could advise them to post here to see if others also want a change.

Does anyone else want it to be something different? I'm not worried either way, as I've no idea how long I'll be playing for this time lol

I would like to play a different terrain type. (I'd also like to rebalance the return on most of the different cargoes and transport methods, and add in a smooth terrain option so I'm not levelling all those annoying mountains...)

A flat map could be fun to try, slight concern is it'll enable us to spread out quite rapidly at the start, but really, it resets so often I don't think that's a major concern.
