OpenTTD 1.2.3 - Play now! Share companies!

Howdy!

Every so often I feel a strange urge to play OpenTTD, it's just such a timeless game

If you used to play Transport Tycoon, you'll know how fun and addictive this game is. Take a look at http://www.openttd.org/en/ for more information. It's completely free to play too! There are graphics, sound and music sets that download with the installer so you don't even need the original game files to play.

I've fired up a basic server (currently version 1.2.3) which has the following parameters set:

Server address: ttd.games.on.net:3979
Max clients: 255
Max companies: 15
Map size: 512x2048
Landscape: Temperate
Autoclean companies: enabled
Unprotected companies: (should be safe from deletion)
Protected companies: (should be safe from deletion)
Companies with no vehicles: deleted after 12 game months
Game start year: 1950
Game auto-restart year: 2100

Probably missed a few things...

I didn't even know this was doable with OpenTTD. This seems the perfect time to finally try it. Transport Tycoon is still one of my favourite games. Thankyou Hydra!

Yes, and you can play co-operatively in the same company with others!!

Hence why you can have so many clients connected at once

Gets stuck on "(1/6) Connecting" and eventually says the server didn't answer the request.
Help? Are there ports need forwarding? Can anyone other than Hydra connect to it?

If you're like me and dislike the tiny fonts, in the cfg file

Win XP : "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\OpenTTD"
Vista/7: "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\OpenTTD"

change these values to this:

small_font = Arial
medium_font = Tahoma Bold
large_font = Times New Roman
small_size = 11
medium_size = 12
large_size = 20

Makes things a touch easier to read on a bigger screen.

Managed to connect to a different server so I guess the GON one needs a tweak somewhere.
