GON File hosting

Unread postby IvanTSR » 8 Sep 12, 2:42 pm

Hi

Looking for all the files that internode used to host and were quickly accessible through this website.

Tried searching in the files section of the site but the search tool is, well, useless, and all it seems to come up with is videos rather than patches, updates etc.

If someone from GoN could answer that'd be great.

Cheers

The file library page is being worked on (as stated by Cas/Tim on numerous occasions) and will be updated to a more user friendly area as soon as humanly possible :D

In relation to the files them self, is there anything you are having an issue finding? (ie names etc) As everything is still there, it just can take a little more work to find it atm.

The same file content and more is still very much available. If you are having difficulty finding content it is possible that we have removed it due to it's age, or something has gone a bit wrong and we need to investigate it further.

Please chime back in with an example or file content you are looking for, i'm happy to give you a direct link to the file listing page :).

I think it's the matter of nothing being uploaded.

I'm not having a go at you for having time off, don't see it that way. Those files are only trailers, there's no game patches / demos / mods etc, you know, the cool stuff. :P I've submitted a few files I'd like hosted to no avail, I guess that was probably due to your lack of presence?

I sent IvanTSR a PM not long after I posted (and moved the thread), basically saying exactly that, alas whilst IvanTSR has been back since, nobody ever reads their PM's anymore

If you are having difficulty finding content it is possible that we have removed it due to it's age,

That makes it a very sad day for retro, semi-retro gamers wanting to access patches, and people who signed up to Internode at least partly because of un-metered file content.
Then there are 'glitches' like Nvidia drivers - Three BETA drivers since 296.10 WHQL and no 301.42 WHQL

Not being reactionary, but the old format worked well and the current search engine does not seem to allow for wild cards,
if that's the correct term for bad spelling . The old Alphabet box was sooo handy :( .

And why does iinet/Internode have only one person working on the file page ?
Too trivial from the corporate desk point of view ?

I see now. Hopefully we don't go ~2 weeks without files again. :P

Sorry. :P

It would be nice if we could get emails if the files were accepted or declined, you know, like the good ol' days. :P The acceptance ones are good since you know it's there and can now download it, and the declined ones would be good (with a reason why) so you know the message was received.

http://games.on.net/file/50804/ - It's there now. :)

The old format was much better, but supposedly it's all being fixed and it's meant to be better than before, although we'd need confirmation from Cas about it. :P

I should probably clarify that by age I fully mean, outdated client patches and files. During the year it is common that we purge a large amount of older files to free up disk space and ensure that our members have access to the latest and relevant patches for their games :).

Please submit a file request if you would like to see it hosted :). If no one has submitted a file request and we are not notified that the WHQL/Beta driver has been released, there is a good chance that it will not be on the mirror.

It's fine, as I've said a few times over the past month we are working to improve the file library and we will be introducing a number of new (and old) features again :).

At present the content is there and you can find it, and if it's really difficult to find things just send me a PM anytime you want instead of doing a search, I'll read it and do search, then after a day or two everyone will be happy! (oh I'm kidding  ;))

The games.on.net team is incredibly small, it's pretty astonishing what we have been able to accomplish with a team of ~2-4 people over the past 10 years. If you would like to voice your feedback, please contact Internode directly :)

Wow ! Now that's what I call instant gratification.
I went out to greet my bride coming home from the sweatshop, and 30min later - Bingo 301.42 WHQL -
Impressive :D .

Probably should contact the Node. Tell 'em to get their feet off the desk and give you guys a hand eh!
But I don't care no more. I can get the new drivers Image.
Back to work with yeah ! Image

EDIT: OK - I relented. A post has been sent to head office requesting more people working on the GON site.
