Well that clip looks a shedload better than when I last played it. Not the prettiest of games.

Remember when you last played it, it was still pre-Alpha, and still is...

This threads recent pages just gave me a bit of a chuckle. Groups so easily divide over debates on what simulation is more realistic, or what is deemed to make a sim a sim.

Personally I've hung up my helmet and "retired" from sim racing (and gaming in general for now), as when looked at it detail no single sim really gets it right. There are a good handful that can give an enjoyable "racing" experience but not a single one that has all the bases covered. It's hard for me to pick any sim that I could really compare to the "feel" of driving a real car (in any form). In a standard home setup there are just too many of the feel aspects missing, so rather than judging a sim on how it drives I try to look at what gives the most authentic "racing" experience.

Current sims also heavily reward repetition, as nearly all across the board lack real variables that must be accounted for, such as wind strength and direction (lfs does attempt this), track/air temps and so on. It's a very sterile environment in all, that offers very little in variation.

In the end a sim is only as good as what you perceive one to be, as we all have differing views and requirements on what makes a simulation realistic.

Cheers mate :) To be honest I was surprised to find out it was noticed I wasn't about lol. "Real world" loves to get in the way of things at times. Happy to say I am 100% alive :)

Good to see you around again Mearehear :)

Just in time for today's update (Build 296)! What a ripper :D As usual there are a lot of changes, new exports of tracks etc......but I can't think of a better way to check them all out, then to go for a test drive in the new BMW M1 and BMW Z4 GT3 :).

Cheers

Those screen shots make it look lovely. I still haven't tried this as my pc needs an upgrade and I've pretty much gone back to console gaming, and I must admit knowing its dna link to Shift 2 has always made me a little wary of it. (I cant find enough ways to say how much Shift 2 annoys me lol, even with a game pad I can't make its cars drive straight.). One day I really will have to give this a go somewhere to see just how well they have advanced it.

Very much looking forward to Assetto Corsa too! Have my pc hooked up to the tv lately, been doing some hotlapping in nkpro and it is such an amazingly good drive still, especially with a big tv view.

If Assetto Corsa keeps the great fundamentals of nkpro, and adds onto that in all other areas, it will be a stand out title without any doubt.
