Mersyndol - probably safer not to travel with it if possible, because of the codeine - may cause you trouble when you come back in to Australia (You'd have to be unlucky, but it's probably better to declare and not have much - and make sure it's in original packaging preferably with a Dr's note or script) It can get you arrested if you try to take it in to Turkey or the UAE...

I was being somewhat sarcastic - British wiring is generally pretty scary and any self-respecting nation should run a mile rather than be associated with them. :)

AHHHH - I see - you find it unfathomable that UK adaptors work - AT ALL... the location is just incidental.

More usefully for OP - I've taken to carrying a small battery with adaptors - designed to recharge other devices - so you charge it up when you can - and then if you get caught without convenient power you can still recharge your phone.

Eveready make some (that's what I have) - carried by Target and Vodafone stores

Last week's Big W catalogue had a Belkin branded one for $23 which is pretty cheap.

I'm pretty sure it would be this one...

I am only taking a couple of forte's with me (prescription) and the rest are just day/nights which are over the counter. Sadly I will need to take them and its not really an option not too.

I suppose I could just buy when over there but would rather be safe and have them on me.

Well I leave in the AM so thanks everyone for you help! Think I have everything :)

How random, the girlfriend and I did this exact trip at the start of May - Bangkok then onto Koh Samui. Loved both places, keen to get back there. You know where you're staying yet in both places?

To back up Wiggums comment - on top of photocopies of your passport and itineraries - scan and save them to your email account as well, in the unlikely event you lose everything.

Other than that, if you've been there before you know what to expect re: suitable dress sense and cultural formalities.

I always grab the latest Lonely Planet if I'm heading somewhere new - the latest Thailand one was great for our trip. A bit random, but as it was a new place, I took my compass with me - the Lonely Planet maps aren't always that clear, so it really helped get my bearings and saved us from getting lost a few times.

And I am back :P

I was at Baan Chaweng beach resort which was really nice. In Bangkok I was in 4 wings in Sukhumvit just off Sukhumvit road (Soi 26 I think).

Was an awesome trip and will probably post some photo's in the photography section in the coming weeks when I get around to it :)
