Saw a Hilux the other day that made one of those completely necessary. Hit a Roo on the highway. Thanks to the bullbar, shrugged it off and kept going.

At the time was rather astounding to see, Roo's normally destroy cars...

I've hit my fair share, in my old Hilux, with a steel bullbar.. had to straighten it a few times, but never once damaged the car. When the gunk gets on the engine and it starts to heat up it smells terrabad.. >.<

Nothing THAT size is necessary though unless you're driving through a zombie apocolypse :P

Heh Ive seen a roo flatern the numbers off a numberplate (6ft'ish red hit my uncles cruzer) dead on.
Ive also seen a hilux on a rack out west getting the chassis rails straighened, hit a roo on the bullbar and bent the **** outta the lux, dunno what speed he was doing but it shunted the bar into the headlight.

Around here you want full bars arround any car due to other drivers. Our subbie has been hit twice by other cars while parked in town.
