My partner made me a deal.. I get my manual license finally and we'll get married *finally*. With the basic, non-traditional one i want.. not the fancypants expensive one he wants... not that he really cares much for how it's done.
All I need now is some courage/confidence from the wizard of Oz and some practice.

I didn't even know you could get automatic and manual licenses.

Smart people get a manual licence as you can drive both, where as a person with an auotmatic licence can only drive an automatic :P

I think after X amount of time on an unrestricted licence with an automatic you're able to drive a manual anyway?

no, not in qld anyway. if you're auto, you're stuck on it until you redo your manual test.

in other news.. changed isps.. rollover in 2 weeks or so. went with iprimus, unlimited, 60 bucks a month i think, and voip phone.

Not that I am aware of, and as above certainly not in QLD (and from memory SA and NSW either).

There is no Auto and Manual license in SA. You just get a license.

lol I would have loved to have been a part of that conversation when that law got passed.

-"We need to segregate the license system so that people can only drive a certain type of transmission!"

-"Why?"

"...because?"

It is pretty standard around the world, doing a quick search before showed alot of countries have the rule, with only a few exceptions by certain states. Driving a manual, whilst simple to those that have driven them for any extended period of time, is not always so simple for those that have never driven them.

I don't really see how having a license that states you can't drive manual is needed.
Unless I've been living under a rock and people who can't drive manual have been getting into manual cars and driving into people. Even though they wouldn't be able to get it moving. Because they can't drive a manual.
