Doing a charity trivia night last week... The IT demons paid out on me.

Had everything on paper so no tech problem could ruin it - but the tech makes things easier...

Managed to slam a car door on the USB plug of the only device with a copy of the questions and answers and the excel score sheet - much cursing and swearing and work with a multitool saw that fixed - although the plug still bears the scars of metal manipulation

Then fired up the laptop to be greeted by - nothing... a few lights show that the power is on and the battery is OK - but the screen does NOTHING...

Unplug the battery and replug it - still nothing

OK, I was a boy scout, I'm prepared for this - I have a second laptop - which works.

And about 20 minutes later I plug the first laptop in and it too comes back to life...


But we did raise $7000 for charity so I guess the angst was worth it

It's true, things do go in threes - TV, Fridge and Vaccum cleaner all kicked the bucket in a week. Atleast it was well timed for end of year sales.

I got a call today from someone asking for a quote to repair some windows at their house. it required a site inspection.
asked for the address; her response, "i dont want to tell you that, im not comfortable with letting that information out".
