Server Suggestion..

So at the moment there is currently 15 GON cs servers. I would say number 5 (wc3ft) would be probably the only one that is really consistently active. This leaves 14 other servers that are, for the most part, not used to their potential.

Why don't we mix things up a bit?

I think nowadays 4 WC3FT servers and 4 GunGame servers is a bit overboard. Can we discuss some possible ideas that could really bring back some variety and players to the GON cs servers?

I for one, would love to see node 4 bring back the OLD wc3 mod (if it can even be found), before Moles/Flaming Gloves etc. that caused camping in the newer mods (imo).
By the way, I'm talking bringing back the real classic wc3 mod, with Belf awesomeness and all. It was on node 4 for a long time and was pretty much where I began being a cs junkie.

So if that could be found, it surely wouldn't hurt to chuck it on one of the not so frequented WC3FT servers - like server 7 or 8?

My second suggestion would be to maybe change one of the GunGame servers (2, 9 or 10) to a 24/7 scoutzknivez map or a constant scoutz map rotation. There is at least 3-4 I can think of. I'm an admin of a scoutzknivez league (yeah we have one) and a member of the oldest 800 grav aussie scoutz clan still alive, and I know there is a half-decent sized community that would benefit from another scoutz server (especially one that had a rotation of different scoutz maps) rather than just the normal map played constantly.


Yeah, 1.6 is old and forgotten to some of us, but it's always in the top5 played steam games every time I bother to check the stats. Why don't we put some effort into bringing some of those players into the GON servers again?

Discuss and make your own suggestions. Don't be shy :D

Good to see some suggestions Munchy, but sadly we've tried many times to spice up the 1.6 scene. Nobody really takes to it with any gusto.

You won't get many "thoughts" here as most of the people who play 1.6 don't even know the forums exist.

Would love to see people prove me wrong though ;)

I can't disagree there CM, this was probably a bit overly hopeful.

Lets keep our fingers crossed and see if a regular or 2 stumbles across the forums on a whim in the next few days and posts some support :D

I might try hunt down some people I know who still CS and visit the forums, then harass them into getting behind it :P
It's a shame though, that I don't know half the people in the server when I jump on these days.. Compared to recognizing almost every name in a server back in the day.

Old nelf, no moles, no gloves, no phoenix revives, no BS tank blood mages.

I know this suggestion keeps getting put out there and continually knocked back, but please, more maps into rotation. Office, nuke, train, cbble, just not assault.

I've seen the argument against adding these maps because some didn't have 32 spawn point or something, but I'm sure there must be some amx plugin to fix that. 99% sure cbble is 32 player anyway.


Scoutzknivez aint for me though.

Suggestion, drop the player count to 30, (so these strange 32 player bugs happen less) and put in more maps (e.g. I'm fairly sure.. sort of sure... I heard from a guy who heard from a guy that cbble can do 30 people)

I'm also for maybe chucking a few more maps into a rotation on one of the unused WC3FT servers.

We could put a new rotation of what people want for node 5 (the current node 5 maps + a few more previously mentioned) on one of the 16 slot servers where finding a 32-spawn version of each map won't be necessary. This way we can easily test out if people actually use them before implementing them onto a more popular server (as in no.5) and finding out how to get the 32-spawn versions going.

Thanks again for posting guys, if you have any mates who have a forum account, or can be bothered making one, get them to post some support or their own suggestions. If we show enough people still give a **** we could hopefully get some positive changes going.

I'm still here.

Just chilling on holidays in Melbourne.

As per our conversation in game, I also think we could get some changes going but as Monkey said, there isnt enough people to get a change going.

You know im up for it. :D

Yeah definitely not enough. I'm starting to visualise this as 4-5 guys standing outside a business holding up a poorly drawn sign protesting half-heartedly. Hahaha. Well it's the thought that counts anyway! RIGHT???

As much as I loved it, it was way imba.


As to suggestions, has GON ever used the irc-signup for organised pub matches? I remember connecting to an irc server, type in some !join command and you could play in some quick scrims in 5v5s.

It would go great as lots of people afk the irc channel anyway :)
