Hacked Items, finding/using them.

Unread postby Toybox » 19 Aug 12, 8:16 pm

I'm sure we have all found at least one thing that was hacked into the game right?

Some friends and I even had a moment where a weapons crate was actually dropped especially for us (BIG shout out to Santa, you know who you are..we don't.)

The question is where do you draw the line?

If you "find" something that isn't meant to be used, do you drop it or leave it? Do you make a point of destroying hacked gear?
Recently I came across a hacked in SUV which I decided to take, It's a car, it was sitting there. If I didn't take it I'm sure someone else would have.
I also came across some satchel charges and non in game guns which my friends and I destroyed by running the tent down.
We did this because it completely shifts the balance of the game to our side, but the car is just a car I guess, works just like a URAL or UAZ (Susan as we so lovingly named her)

So is hacked stuff fair game? what do you leave or take? Game rules state if its not in the game then it's illegal but when your desperate and alone......

Depends on the power level, I'd say. If it's something relatively harmless (an extra pushbike or something) I'd take it, but AS50 TWS is way out.

Also, Satchel Charges CAN spawn, just very damn rarely.

my thoughts are if its there and its meant to be in DAYZ I'll take it. I don't care where it came from.

Technically speaking its not hacked gear its just user spawned. But, if someone hacked say a M9SD and it killed everything within a 50 metre radius, that would be a hack and I would think it pretty much violated every EULA and terms and conditions of server use in all known and potentially unknown Universe's. However that is mearly my opinion and is probably inncorrect.

even if I found the most OP weapon in the game I'd be likely to die within a few hours anyway so hell yeah I'm taking it.

I've come across the bases of a few hackers, lots of vehicles and tents with gear but I generally only take NVG's for myself and maybe a primary weapon but I stay away from the high end stuff and the items that can't normally be found in game.

50% of every pub server seem to be using scripts so zero **** are given by me, you can't be banned for using an item unless you spawned it yourself so my sniper team has spent the last week counter sniping scripters using the as50-TWS pair we took from some idiots we killed last week.

Dear god the cheaters are so easy to tell apart from normal players, no tactical sense at all.

all the snipers on the Electro berm... forever...

Using hacked-in gear is wrong and it should be removed from player backpacks without warning.

The thing is where do you draw the line? If you top someone and go to loot them and they have 1x of all the top end gear, do you ditch it because it might/probably is hacked in, or take it because the items can be found in game?

I agree though, picking up the AS50 TWS or any item that CANNOT be found in game is daft, and you're best off leaving it on the body and hiding the body.

I would take any and all in-game equipment but leave anything that shouldn't exist in!game (presuming I'd recognise it if I saw it).
