Character naming and lack of rename options.

I jumped on another thread, after finding out; not only is the ability to have my name impossible, but Bioware/EA also seem completely unwilling to assist in the matter.

If you wanted to put in your own opinions, or simply to be aware of it if you're going to make a character.

The game will only capitalise the first letter of your name. Any further letters will be lowercase. It won't affect many, but could be a big deal for some.

You mean, just like real names?

The only names I can think of, off the top of my head, with more than one capital are the Mc/Mac variants (MacIntosh, etc) and O' names (O'Lochlan, etc).

I would be perfectly happy with X'Viper, but not X'viper.

I have another character with a different name, but this is the name I want, and its not hurting anyone.

But why isn't X'viper good enough? I understand it's a slight annoyance you can't have the EXACT name you want, but is it really that big a deal?
Meanwhile I'll prance around as Ah'non Eh'moose content with the fact I couldn't uppercase that n or m.

Something weird happened with the naming server when the Aus ones came up, I have a couple of friends whose names are invalid on ANY server who managed to get them on the Aus one, only to try and change class and find out the name was now invalid again, it was almost like the naming server wasn't online.

I don't know if there's a minimum character limit, but can you just make your character 'X' and then grab the legacy name 'Viper' at later levels?

Legacy name is basically a 'surname' right? I thought that was a level 50 thing?
Additionally the other problem is they wont let me change my name now anyway, because it doesn't breach the naming policy.

It's around level 30, you start your legacy at the end of act 1.

I don't think there's any way you can do it. 'X' would breach the naming policy as well I think, being a meaningless letter.
