Kinda bored already...

Kinda bored already...

Unread postby HandsomeSandwich » 10 Jan 12, 6:59 pm

As someone who has only played regular RPGs I'm kinda bored of this MMO stuff already - and I'm only at lvl 16 with a Sith Jug.

My biggest gripe is not being able to heal myself in battle like a solo rpg. Medipacks? Yeah those are great for about 300hp other wise known as too little too late.

Secondly - I can't beat the runty little weiner that **** blocks me from my new ship.

I dunno - just a winge - not really feeling this mmorpg stuff even with the star wars theme.

All those problems you just explained have absolutely nothing to do with an MMO.

If your health pack is healing for 300, buy better ones, at about level 16 they heal for closer to 1k+, you can even pickup Bioanalysis and Biochem and make better pots as well as ones that are reusable, and if you can't beat an elite mob, you're doing it wrong, either change your tactics or pvp a bit to get up a couple levels or do the flashpoints to get some gear/xp to level up.

Most rpg's you heal with potions/medipacks, it's exactly the same..

Also, make sure your self buff is up.
Interrupt any highly damaging abilities if you have an interrupt at that level.
Use your in-combat defense buff before you're almost dead. Jedi have Saber Ward, Juggernaut should have something similar.
Use your best health kit once your health has dropped enough that none of the heal will be wasted.
If your companion can take a bit of a beating, send it in first to soak up some of the damage, then wade in yourself.

tl:dr; you need to play smarter. Or, if possible, get a non-Warrior to come help you. ;)

You could always play a healer.

I dunno... I don't really remember my dragon age rogue being able to cast healing magic. Healers being separate characters is a genre staple.

For emergency healing an up-to-date medikit should be enough for the occasional thing.

You really don't want to solo healer, you deal almost no damage and have no armour = self heals become irrelevant if thats all you can afford to do.

Also, tanking sacrifices a lot for dps; what are you speccing? Tanks can take a lot of punishment but have a rather demanding playstyle.

That's why they give you a companion tank. There's no spec that won't work - if someone is having troubles with the class quests I'd suggest either coming back to it later if at all possible or to just sit and have a think about it, none of it (the class stuff) is unbeatable regardless of spec.

You couldn't be more wrong. Being a healer in this game means you have a little mini tank to solo harder mobs with all the time. I did a 2 person elite quest quite easily solo the other day as all I did was heal my companion and let him do all the hard work.

I'm playing Agent Operative (Healer) as my main, and I'm loving solo. Can take down gold star enemies 2 levels above me so long as I play it right.

I play a Tank and have had little to no trouble, as stated previously, its not the game, you are playing it wrong. I know that not entirely helpful but maybe you need to respec if you are planning on playing a certain way that doesnt correlate with your skill tree at the moment.

(or what everyone else has said, use your companion as a meatshield and buy better medipacks.)

Indeed, i play a jugg and i dont really have trouble. Vette is **** AMAZING. Cooldowns and medpacks are a jugg's friend =D

I'm level 37 atm, and killing an elite is EASY as hell. Throw saber, leap in (stun) force choke (pommel strike while its channelling), then backhand, force push, and leap in for another stun... all the while vette destroys it with her amazing dps.

Ok ok, i didn't say nothing was impossible but to play it is difficult - maybe we dont all like to rely on companions :P Im playing Tank with a mate as a healer (we have seperate characters for when one of us isn't on) so i guess i just exaggerated the issue. All i know is that he had trouble with his end to Chapter 1, but he succeeded without my help.

I know the companions can tank/dps/heal i was just saying from a standpoint that i would think DPS would be the easier option to personally play, less to worry about.

Almost lvl 40 and still loving this game!

heh i do the same. I play a consular and my mate a tank knight. Makes finding groups incredibly easy when you've already got a tank and healer...

Mind you, its often easier to just use dps companions than to find real people.. More damage and both equally as likely to be frustratingly bad.

I'm trying to figure out how the Assassin is supposed to be a tank, he does so much damage. Granted I'm still in the teens but it just feels like Khem tanks and I crush newbs......definitely not a bad thing.
