CE Price drop on Amazon

CE Price drop on Amazon

Unread postby Village idiot » 15 Dec 11, 3:11 pm

So, today i was lucky enough to see a post on SWTOR.com (before it was immediately pushed 5 pages back). Amazon dropped the price of the CE back to $149 (it was something ridiculous like $350). I had internet dramas at work and couldn't post here.

I was lucky enough to upgrade my copy on amazon for that price. Just checked and prices are slowly going back up as units sell... BUT....

If you were like me and were unsure about the CE or there was no way you were paying $350+, keep an eye on amazon. My theory is people are cancelling their pre-orders and when they get a heap of cancellations, they drop the price to sell them again?

Edit: I feel bad that i couldn't post here sooner, so some people may have had a chance to get in on it too.

It's gone back up to $315. :P

The CE doesn't really provide much different to the standard edition, other than the statue and art book or whatever, which I don't value at $250. All the other stuff can be bought in game, even if it costs a million creds to buy your way into the VIP lounge.

If you look at the seller you'll notice it's not actually Amazon themselves that are selling for $300 - it's private sellers who are clearly trying to cash in on the demand. Amazon themselves will sell them for $150 if they have it in stock.

There's CE-specific vendors in the VIP lounge that you can only buy things from if you have the CE, even the million credits won't get you access to them. There's also authenticator vendors you can only access if you've attached an authenticator, though they should be available outside the CE at some point.
I don't have access to either (yet!) so I couldn't say if there's anything worth buying from the vendors...

Plus, CE gets a mouse droid! :D

Actually you get the option to buy the additional digital goodies for $20 US when you sign up for a subscription.

That's only the DDE items, not the CE stuff.

Mine too... And i just ordered it yesterday (when i cancelled my standard order) lol. Says eta 21st as well. And im assuming that the 21st is American 21st, so actually the 20th here? Maybe... Not sure, but not fussed now that we have a 2 day grace period anyway.

But on the up side, the grace period ending on the 22nd means it'll end the 23rd here. Or thereabouts. :)

I didn't actually read the details. If that's the case then it's only in the afternoon of the 22nd. Which is still better than the middle of the night. :)
