Yeah, I don't play Caspian at all. I'll actually leave a server just to avoid it.

TBH my favourite map is probably Wake Island still.

I generally only play HC matches, but they don't feel HC. Compare the difference between BC2 Normal and BC2 HC and you'll see what I mean.

yeah same mate. I actually loved the HC in BC2 - THATS how it should be done ie. one shot kills for snipers, one or two shots for normal assault rifles (as IRL), etc.

Exactly.. I used to be quite good at sniping in BC2, and loved it. Now Recon is probably one of my least played classes due to that. Nothing more frustrating than lining up a beautiful long distance shot, collecting them in the upper torso, and having them shrug it off and run away.

I also think the existing motion sensor is pretty ****, and would like to see the BC2 thrown motion sensors back rather than the MAV.

Yes it was stupid how it could be thrown halfway across the map, and you couldn't even destroy it if your saw it sitting on the ground.

pretty much...

as retarded as MAV uses are in BF3 (MAV elevator back then, or MAV kamikaze) they are at least a valid target and can be shot down (even if they can be replenished quickly).

but indestructible motion sensor was just sad...

you throw one into a house and that house is now a death trap to any enemy that enters it... and there's nothing he can do about it except wait it out.

Can the MAV and Soflam be reloaded/regenerated/replenished?

Funny but I don't find myself missing the motion sensor. Which in turn probably means I don't play the sniper all that often anymore as a result.

Recon in BF3 fun if you play smart. I use the motion sensor as bait, as people hear it and expect to find a sniper near. Boom head shot while they stand still to shoot it. Even better when you have a mate with you with clays. Its all about where you place the sensor in relation to where you snipe from. Remember always shoot and move, then you get the guy coming back for revenge, makes them predictable and in no time they are calling you hacker/waller. :)

If you are setting up the shot and hit the body, then too bad its not a head shot and you deserver no kill. If a body shot was a kill then it would be way over powered.

A recon is great in DM in a good over watch position and your other 3 move on in advance. If you get the perfect position the other 3 are lucky to get a kill as you steal them before they can take the shot. Combine this with TS and its hard to beat.

Yes, because a body shot from an M82/L96 you can just brush off...

Exactly, it makes zero sense what so ever.. I'm not saying every sniper rifle should be a one hit kill (semi auto's for example), but the way it is now is a backwards step from BC2.

As a point of interest, I'd love to see the thrown motion sensors back and have them destructable, I think that would be a cool feature and far more useful than the current sensor.

As a non-recon player in BC2 and BF3, I'm very glad they changed it. I prefer the less weapon damage \ more health in normal.

I like that snipers can't keep plinging at you with no skill and hope if they get one reasonably likely hit (out of 5 or 6 shots) then you're instantly dead, when as engi \ support they could be so far away your PDW or LMG is useless.

I like that it means you need to either aim your shots (if going for a kill) or stay in cover (if trying to stay alive). It's not like someone can get a lucky shot on you as you go from one defendable position to another a few meters away and you're dead.

I think it adds another level of tacticality.

I just don't get their damage model... I had no idea that bullets lost so much power at 30m -_- Even a standard 9mm pistol isn't going to lose THAT much power at a decent distance, yet they work off the fact that "OH NOES THEY ARE JUST OVER THERE, YOU WILL ONLY DO HALF DAMAGE LOZLES".

This is why I have given up with BF3.

I think they want more 'player skill' involved, and having a fast damage drop off means you need to keep pushing the enemy in order to kill them. Its a surefire way to make pub players keep pushing points.

This is where BF3 takes liberty with realism. If you gave the assault rifles full damage over 400m like they deserve, then who in their right mind is going to start rushing points? The game suddenly becomes slow and tactical; things that pub players probably wouldn't like.

I say take battlefield 3 for what it is. I would prefer more visual and audio oomph for getting hit, and a larger penalty to your aim, but this game isn't designed for you, its designed for 64 people on the same server.

Despite what some say about sniping not having any skill.. you try hitting a moving target from one side of the map to the other (Wake Island, for example), and scoring a hit. It's **** disappointing that they just go "Oh, that stung, better get behind cover" and they're gone.
