OFFICIAL Origin EA ID Changer

Hi all

Found out my account got hacked somehow and my EA ID had been changed - fortunately not my password.

After an agonising 45 minutes chatting with some foreign support person using the horrible web based chat, they finally directed me here:

Was able to login with my email address and password, change my EA ID to whatever I wanted.

Can confirm this works, the Reddit name changer was just as good too though.

Sadly they still don't understand if you've used your nick elsewhere, you can't use that again.

Well in chatting with a their support I did learn the following, for my situation:

Anchorman is taken by someone else with an email address different to mine (ie @hotmail vs @other - and it isn't my hotmail address either)

However, I have used Anchorman in BFBC2 as a soldier name which also appears in my list of personas on the ea.com profile page.

I also used Anchorman.au for BFBC2, but I cannot use that as an EA ID because of the full stop, disallowed character.


So if you cannot use a name, it might be that someone else has actually registered it. It might be you at an old email address perhaps, but it might not.

this has saved several of my clan members alot of grief and wasted time with ea support

even what is it now 4 months after release EA are still claiming this is not possible
they claim the only way to change your account name is to make a new origin account
