$30 for that add-on, plus a $5 app on the app store for increased functionality.

I'm loving this thread. Massive fanboi alert Catfish, but that's not necessarily a bad thing hahaha. Also be careful when responding to posts like Sane's, he wasn't touting any phone except for the Lumia as being better than the iPhone. As he's already pointed out, the S3 is hardly a major improvement over the S2. In almost all his points (once again barring the Lumia comparison), he's appraising the iPhone5 over it's predecessor.

I think my 4S is quite safe from being replaced by the 5. In fact this may be the last iPhone I own. Now that I frequent places like beatport and other such digital distribution song sites with a wider selection than iTunes, I doubt I'll be going back to Apple products. I even retract a statement I made ages ago about getting a macbook if I ever get a laptop. I don't like them anymore :/

For an extra $10 you can buy the performance app which will use the inbuilt acceleromators to measure your swing speed.

For $100 you can buy the KookiBurra Ball, which can measure the distance of your shots...

those expensive adapters don't support video or a feature called "iPod Out". That means if you buy a $29 adapter so you can plug your iPhone 5 into your speaker dock, there's a chance you won't actually be able to play music through the speakers.

That could surprise some people, in a bad way :<

Ouch, that's actually quite bad (if true) that they haven't got support for that, it should have been one of the first things they got working for the new connector.

I don't understand the hate, they made a phone that is better than the last phone they made. Its missing some features that you want.....if it was any other brand you'd say "Damn I wish it had X, then I'd get it".

Not sure what is wrong with the 4S's battery life, I havent had a problem so far :|

Probably grab something other than an iPhone next up just to see what else is out there.

Its about time people start seeing Apple as just another option, fanboys will be fanboys and some of the rabid haters are far worse than the fanboys.

edit: that youtube is awesome :D

Not that I would like to come to the defence of Apple but iPod Out is a reference to an API introduced in iOS 4 that allows car audio decks to control the iPod http://www.macworld.com/article/1152658 ... odout.html. The thing is Apple have not stated if audio/aux out is affected by the adapter or not. In any case I think you are up for new docks/accessories

Yeah may be an entire non issue for many people, but it's worth being aware of.

Thank you for actually being rational. See, its really not that hard people.

I'll definitely be grabbing one of these and disposing of my HTC Desire on the 21st. Looking forward to having something new and shiny to play with. I'm hoping my first iPhone experience will be a vast improvement over my experiences with Android which have been far below what I expected in terms of both hardware and software.

I'm being rational and objective.

The 5 is the worst iPhone launched to date, with next to nothing new (using new fabrication to make the inside smaller which has next to no effect on the size and yet claiming to be the thinnest (which it isn't) doesn't count), some minimal improvements and just being worse looking refresh of existing product without anything exciting, innovative or really better about it apart from supporting LTE.

Apple pioneered, marketed and cornered the market of Smartphones as we know them, this release is just plain pathetic and they're going to lose a decent amount of market share to Android and soon Windows Phone because they haven't kept in front of the competition with the innovation they are known for (probably due to Steve passing away).
Sure the iPhone 5 is going to sell, millions of people have Mac's & iTunes with a vast amount of coin soaked into them, they aren't going to jump ship when Apple releases only a marginally better product because it's going to cost them double or triple or more to make the jump.

Android and the OEM's on the other hand have been progressing in leaps and bounds to catch Apple and with the latest gen bringing more to the table than Apple have, the only real problem remaining with Android is the fragmented community of different phones which run different versions of the OS and aren't kept up to date.
Which is a something that Apple do far and away better as they make the OS and the Phone and don't need to support hundred of sub releases for every OEM that wants to do 'their thang'.

Windows on the other hand is still an unknown and if they try to continue to pull an Apple with an iTunes like program to lock the phone down while trying to tie it to XBOX, it's probably going to be a flop since they don't have a rabid army of loyal minions like Apple to get the market share.

TL;DR?
Apple - A limp wristed release trading on the brand name, loyal minion/fans and the lock in factor.
Andriod - Caught up, still can't get support right as the OEM's use a scattergun approach to phone making/marketing.
Windows - Potential to be in the game, OEM's are producing the good phones. Will MS blow it with a locked down garbage OS? Only time will tell.
