Facebook on iPhone - Slloooww dooowwwnnn

Unread postby Shinanigans » 8 Jun 12, 9:45 am

So, i saw the Facebook + Android thread above and wondering if it's just **** Facebook programming in general, but Facebook on my iPhone over the last couple of weeks has been utter garbage. It's not my connection either because its really slow on wifi too. Takes forever to load the updates (i'm on the train for 5-7 mins and it spents 90% of the time loading a handful of posts), i don't even bother trying to load images. Anyone else finding the same?

Yeah I've heard such rumors too.

Not surprised.

As mentioned in the other thread, I find using the mobile version much more efficient.

Just don't use the mobile app, every 2nd update seems to break it.

Use the mobile browser instead.

The Mobile App has been shite on and off for ages now, every update breaks it more but yes I've noticed that lately it's been even worse, seems to work fine if connected to wifi but through 3G is next to useless though everything else works fine.

I uninstalled it, and just use the mobile browser like Anon suggested.

The problem with using the mobile browser is that the FB mobile site looks like **** on tablets (especially the extra large photos - I can see the point for phones but not for tablets).
DRM is like kids. The less you have, the better.

Facebooks mobile apps are poorly designed, optimised, engineered and usability ****.

It's because Facebook hasn't figured out how to profit from the mobile platform yet. How do they make money using the official Facebook app? They dont. They cant off third party apps either, which is why they're crippled by the **** API and most peoples privacy settings. They incentivise the desktop site.
