Screen Protector

Unread postby Disco LT » 2 Jan 12, 6:42 am

Does anyone use a screen protector with their iPhone? Wanting to grab one, but the bubble free kind I bought the other day, were not bubble free and my OCD cannot stand the bubbles, despite many attemps with three screen protectors I ended up frustrated and unable to remove the bubbles using every method I could think of and cleaning the screen over and over.

Can anyone recommend a screen protector that is easy to apply and bubble free?

Bubble free comes down to who puts it on, there's no "Bubble Free" screen protectors, and if they say they are, they're lying.

Work from the bottom and line up the corners and the button at the bottom, then slowly work your way up it whilst using a credit card to smooth it down as you put it on.

Make sure you clean the screen 100% with a microfibre cloth beforehand.

Code: Select all
---------
|   -   |
|       |
|       |  <- Work your way up slowly smoothing out bumps.
|       |
|   o   |  <- Start at the bottom.

As lee said bubble free just comes down to the person applying it.

As for a brand of screen protector, I've been using a brand called power support. One thing I especially like about them is that the protectors don't need a spray or anything to get them to stick onto your phone. I've specifically been using the anti glare protector and that's worked really well for over a year now. It has a few little scratches in it, but the phone itself is still scratch free.

The only problem with them (that I experienced anyway) is buying from their site is really expensive. If you decide you like the look of them, just grab a pack off ebay, it's much cheaper.

I've used BodyGuardz and BestSkinsEver, positive experiences with both.

Yeah. Your best bet is to buy a cheap-ass bulk pack from eBay, go to the cleanest room in your house and wipe your iPhone with the microfibre until it is COMPLETELY dust free, and just try over and over and over and over and over and over and over until you get it right. They all claim to be "bubble free" but it comes down to the application, not the screen protector itself.

As said, line the protector up from the bottom, and VERY lightly and easily lower the protector down, pushing it from the bottom and using a credit card or something similar to push the protector down easing out any bubbles that do form.

But seriously, just buy a cheapo pack with 10+ from eBay, you're bound to get one right. That's what I did with my SGS2.

I don't see why anyone would want to cheapen the feel of their phone with a dodgy screen protector.

Modern screens are incredibly resilient in my experience, especially gorilla glass. My nexus S jingles about in my pocket with my keys everyday and there isn't a scratch on it.

I've been using el' cheapos from ebay for ages and tbh they're great don't get the lowest you can buy go mid range and you will get decent quality.

I always stuff up the first one so having a extra 9 is worth it.

I've heard applying them in a steamy room (e.g. bathroom after a shower) helps to remove the dust particles from the air and thus make the process a little easier.

The ones with two sides to remove while applying it helps tbh.
I get a CC, and remove the sticker labelled 1 slightly, then use the cc to push it on the phone and the sticker comes off at the end of the phone.

It minimised bubbles. Hard to explain. Youtube has some decent guides.
And yes, always have some spare. I got a pack of like 30 for $14 off eBay.

Or - if you want, get an Otterbox Defender or Ballistic HC. Inbuilt screen protector!

Same.

Never put anything else in the same pocket as my phone and I haven't had a single scratch or crack after 20 months.
