Hi,


There are a couple of 'usability' plugin I'd love to see on the GON MC server. I think they'd add a lot of value by enhancing the experience without ruining the gameplay.

autoitembarreload

If you align items (e.g. picks) in your inventory, when the equipped one breaks, another is equipped to replace it.

pickboat

PLEASE! This one makes boats drop instead of smash during collisions so that when you're in the middle of no-where and crash in to a lillypad, you can at least pick up your boat and re-board it instead of having to build another. Great for explorers.

Nyanstone

Redstone can be ignited/extinguised by redstone current. Good for toasting things from afar.

DwarfForge

Stack 3 stoves over a lava source, put a chest on either side of the bottom stove, fill left hand chest with raw material, punch stove to turn it on. The stack will smelt whatever is in the left hand side with the resulting refined material being deposited in to the right-hand side chest.


Cheers, I hope these recommendations can be taken in to consideration because they make for some really slipstreamed minecraftin'. :mrgreen:

I like the idea of autoitembarreload. pickboat sound alright, not sure about nyanstone (ugh, the name, really?), and liking the dwarf forge, although I can see lots of problems if someone does this anywhere near where something might catch fire from the lava source.

Edit: How quickly are these plugins updated when the mc version changes? Could the game be held to an old version while everyone waits for $somerandomdeveloper to update their mod?

Unsure to be honest. Never played with Bukkit mods.


Re: the forge, lava burning isn't an issue as it's contained. You build them thusly, with the chests resting on ground level;

So there's no exposed lava to toast anything.


Nyanstone (yep, stupid name) is handy for traps, farms and other redstone contraptions.

autobarrelwhatsit doesn't need to be a server plugin as Inventory Tweaks does this for you, plus lots more. DwarfForge is a nice idea though.

Also, is it possible to enable select locking of doors/trapdoors etc in WorldGuard? If so, that'd be super good :)

Only way to lock the doors is to put use deny on, but that would lock ALL the doors in that region. To do individual ones you'd need a new region on top of the old one with use deny on the specific door.

Ahh ok MM, now I remember the old server i was on had another plugin that handled locking doors, chests etc. No probs, it's just something I miss :)

Incidentally, whilst we are on mods, are there any common mods that are not allowed?

I recently installed SinglePlayer Commands, which includes WorldEdit commands - would this be an issue playing with this mod installed?

Nah, that shouldn't be an issue at all. Main mods off the top of my head that we don't permit are: Xray mods or mods that show where the ores are, flying mods, griefing mods and any mods that give you extra ability to do things that normal people can't do in the server.

Hm, SinglePlayer Commands does have a /fly and a /noclip as a part of it, and a ubiquitous /item or /give command set.

Eh, better safe than sorry - I'll disable it when I'm connecting to SMP.

/item and /give doesn't work unless you're an admin anyway, also, the server is back up ;)

Thought I might awaken this thread again because I have a mod/plugin suggestion for the shops, has anyone had a look at ShowCaseStandalone? it's a pretty nice plugin with no direct dependencies and works with Vault, Iconomy 5 & 6, BOSEconomy, EssentialsEconomy, Towny and supports and works with Bukkit's built in permissions.

SHUT UP MACROSS GET TO THE POINT! D:

ShowCaseStandalone is based on a plugin called ShowCase (the stand alone part is because it doesn't depend on other plugins to work properly....) it allows a user to create a shop and display the item they're selling as a dropped item which is aesthetically pleasing (thus good for business)

you can also use this to "display" items decoratively in your builds

The showcased item operates as a store in itself, anyway details are on the page and there is a good advanced tutorial video.

Link below to the mod if Hydra or one of our other server adminy types have time to check it out?

Obviously the only real concern is a large number of entities loads the server and the clients down but I do not imagine the small number of "fixed" entities will have any noticeable impact.
