Agreed. do it do it now. As a side note i would be happy to have ranks, players just joining the server are guests with no building rights at all.

yeah i cant reach the server and checked dynamic map, no one's on so i'm assuming it's down
any ETA when it will be up again?

I do agree with the others about a ranking mod or something to restrict people on nuking or destroying anything they want as soon as they can log onto server. It's bad enough I manage to blow up my own stuff let alone some maniac coming through destroying my hard work.

hope it comes back soon, starting to get the shakes from not getting my tekkit fix for the weekend so far

I think it is about time the server was nuked, start everyone from scratch with a ranking system and a white list for build rights!

Only been on the server two weeks and i alrready think it is time for a do over.

So clearly you guys play this a lot now, so I will look into ways to restrict newer players from doing much at all.

We'll probably need to disable the web map temporarily too - it causes a lot of load. Might switch it back on with less aggressive settings later on.

Is the whitelist that affects the normal MC server in affect on the Tekkit server?

Also how would a ranking system work?

P.S Just started playing Tekkit last week after being out of MC for a while and loving it. Had a total facepalm moment when I blew up all my machines after plugging the basic ones into a high voltage system....

Just from past experience, the forum based whitelist for the vanilla server was totally inadequate for preventing griefing.

A manual whitelist might work better but I doubt it and its just gonna make work.

I don't know what the answer is that will work without a lot of admin effort.

If the biggest issue is people blowing stuff up couldn't the explosive items (TNT etc) just be disabled? I mean people can still grief but it's going to require more work for them to do so!

There should now be an auto-restart script running, similar to what the standard Minecraft server uses. Hopefully it'll be effective with Tekkit.

As for protection, I'm still working out what might be best.

LOL, "come back if it works" - famous last words ;)

Hi guys, just logged into the tekkit server for the first time a few minutes ago. Just thought I should drop by here to say hello to the community in general.

cheers,

[edit]
Interesting, was there a server update during the brief down-time?...

:)

I'm just updating it to 3.1.1 since I am working on it.

I'm also looking at some sort of protection plugins.

To connect to server you will need to go into options and change the client build to use latest dev build.

Thanks smokngoat, I have just updated the first post :D

I've installed Factions too, with the 3.1.1 update.
