Server suggestion / request

Unread postby T H O R » 5 Dec 10, 12:38 pm

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in having a Nuketown 24/7 server up?

It can rotate through the game modes after each map ends, ie: domination, sabotage, team deathmatch etc etc.

Its a good map for hording up xp - also fast paced so you dont get too bored. Having it change the mode each round would also break up the boredom, as well as give players a look at a mode they may not play often - I dont generally play sabotage for example.

Thoughts?

Cheers.

It's true those servers are just for leveling up quicker so it's unlikely we'd ever make one.

It certainly is true the server with that config is for xp hording, but there is no denying they are popular, fun and fast paced.

It ultimately depends on what the gaming network, and players, are looking for:

A full server despite the evil fact its for xp - dont forget you actually have to kill some players in the process, its not just automatic!

or

A kazillion GON servers but when you scroll down the list you see 80% are empty.

My personal opinion is it would be better to have populated servers than empty ones - albeit the evil nature ;)

But hey, its only my opinion and its up to the "Gods" on net to decide.

I deny that it is fun. I find Nuketown a horrible map in just about every game mode. Having populated servers means nothing if they're not servers that I want to play on. I hate it when one map servers come to the fore because it generally sucks players out of full rotation servers, which I find much more fun.

I only wish Node's S and D servers were more popular. The node cod4 S and D server has been going strong virtually since cod4's release but the Black Ops ones don't seem to be getting any attention. Is sad.

Everyone is certainly allowed to have their own definition of "fun" and clearly you're not one to like Nuketown.

No worries, dont play it.

I know a lot of players that do actually enjoy it - especially if they are just after a quick frag session then off to other things.

No they're not. I think it's pretty clear that anyone playing 24/7 nuketown is committing some sort of virtual self-flagellation, traveling from server to server subjecting themselves to the worst possible set of circumstances in which to play the game. They need help not more servers. You monster.

Anyway, i'm not saying that I top nuketown servers but I almost certainly get my blackbird up at least once in every nuketown demolition I play. The thing with nuketown is, you have to know what to do. Like when to camp, when to advance and when to shoot through objects. You also need a specialised class for nuketown. Mine is the M60 with extended mags and grip (never reload and more accurate), strella3 (to destroy the chopper gunners and pilots before they reach the map), and then most importantly, flack jacket and tactical mask pro. Infact, any guns (excluding snipers) work really well if you run flack jacket and tac mask pro on nuketown. Often I'll run the stakeout or ak74u and ill go positive and be in the top 3 on my team. When you know what to do, nuketown can actually be fun.

btw I only ever play nuketown on domination, demolition or S&D. Every other game mode the spawns cant be trusted.

Are you trying to imply that I don't like Nuketown because I'm bad at the game? Because if so you're sadly mistaken.

I'm entirely capable of playing well on Nuketown, enjoying it is another matter indeed.

Bad idea, very bad.

Is the map fun? not in the slightest... Just a nadefest/tubefest/sprayfest and actually more camping than any other map.

Sure it can be fun when a normal server just rotates to it but anything other than that is just bad... its a bad map for bad players.

Thank you for putting it up as a trial I am assuming, rotating between Demo and CTF modes. Saw the server come online this morning around 1:30AM

I mostly only play nuketown because IMO most of the other maps are over-sized for only 18 players.
