Sadly the damage model sucks balls! It does lose wings etc, but a 300kph crash with a wall is just as likely to do nothing to your car. Its only redeeming feature is the very cool tyre punctures, but the rest is very poor.

I imagine that the damage in 2010 isn't so hardcore 'cause they're not only trying to appeal to the sim crowd, but the arcade crowd as well.

It's still quite fun to go through the career mode though.
After playing so much F1 2010 over the past couple days, iRacing's graphics look really bland... damn. :P

F1 2010 is a good time filler for F1 fans 'til November, though. :)

Hmmm.. i used to play SCEE Studio Liverpool's F1 games on Playstation and u could lose a wheel, just seems odd its damn near impossible in 2010. Its hard work to get the car to spin...... anyway.... it was only $35

Agreed - I knew this would happen, and was hesitant to even play F1 as a result. However, I think F1's simplistic handling is starting to wear thin after a week of thrashing it, and it was nice to slip back into iRacing's serious physics model tonight.

Yeah, F1 is more of a fun, fast-paced distraction for me while I have no proper internet connection (just moved house a week ago, waiting for Telstra to stop being slow and provision my line already -- using my Nokia N900 as a modem in the meantime).

I do like it, though.
It'll be interesting to see how iRacing's F1 drive... I am planning to cancel my subscription around the time of release, though... 'cause GT5 comes out early November, then come back to iRacing when I'm done with it.

I just hope I don't have to get my licences again, and re-buy all my content when I renew my account.
Can anybody confirm this for me?

I think I can honestly say once you have the sim bug, it's tough to go back to playing arcade racers - you just feel a bit cheated.

I think that while GT5 will be great with the sheer number of cars, top graphics, and possibility of online being decent... It's still catering to mass market and thus concessions will have to be made in the physics/handling department. I think it will be exactly like forza 3 was for me. Great fun for a while, but after the glitz and glamor wore off I was craving better racing and forza just couldn't give me that.

Pity I don't have a PS3, and missed out on one in the catchoftheday thing yesterday. I might see if I can borrow one just to see if GT5 lives up to the hype. Should be interesting at least.
Hit me up on Steam!

I agree with you $tubbsy. I was looking forward to GT5 a huge amount until I got into iRacing from the thread on these forums. The thing for me, iRacing despite the not so glamorous visuals, (I assume) will exceed anything GT5 offers to me.

The main thing for me is multiplayer racing & without a system the same or similar to iRacing I don't see how enjoyable it will be in GT5. Lag problems, warping, people using other opponents as barriers for corners etc.

Don't get me wrong, GT5 will be fantastic. And what I have said are assumptions not facts. But I find it really hard to see past this unless the online functionality is completely reworked into a new age. (which I hope it is from what they are saying)

I'll be pressured from my mates who have been talking up GT5 with me and I know they'll be bugging me to get in on release when they do. But I think by then I'll be renewing iRacing and buying GT5 down the track when it becomes cheaper.

iRacing has raised the bar so high for its fantastic online system, clean & intense racing I don't see anything replacing it's quality for years to come.

I'm still looking forward to GT5.
I like the whole career mode, buying, selling, upgrading cars, etc.

iRacing is still my number one for online racing and overall car physics, though (of course), but there's no point paying for it if I'm going to be distracted with GT5 for a couple months.

Yeah fair call. The career will be fun. Most my post was specifically for multiplayer overall. I can see myself caving in when my mates are bombarding me with propaganda close to release lol.

As has already been mentioned, you keep your stuff. I can 100% confirm this as I did it yesterday, and I was slightly worried about this.
