Anyone looking forward to Barber tomorrow?

I've been practicing a bit tonight and yesterday. Took me a while to get used to the layout. I managed to get a 1:40:5 with the baseline setup. Still have many gaps to improve on though. Got no idea what an ideal time is as I cannot find any videos or info on this combo :?

Never driven that track yet myself..and i really struggle to drive this boat of a car with any speed lol, but will give it a go just to see what the track is like! I really need to see what the schedule is for everything this week! Hoping to focus on some V8 and Dallara or Riley, depending on the tracks.

Haha. I am really liking the track. Some interesting turns and turn combinations! May have to test it with a high grip car I think it would be orgasmic!

In the meantime I have found out my practice time from yesterday is an average time which I am happy about. Lots of places to improve, gonna hop on some open practice tonight :D

Barber is up for this week, I'm really enjoying the track as the line virtually writes itself.

Having some trouble with certain corner combinations and would love to see a vid of a decent lap.

So far my best is 1:42 and I can hit that consistently but I reckon there's a good 10+ seconds in there somewhere.

Little help?

I really want to get into some Mustang racing this week, I'm hoping some of you guys can join me :)

EDIT: thought your posts were from ages ago! Good to hear my 1:42 isn't too far from average.

I also have a weird wheel problem, I don't remember the FFB being so pitiful... is it just the mustang that makes FFB go sloppy?

Im probably going to be focused on the Prototype Series with the Riley, at Barber this week, and with the V8 at Watkins Glen CUP (awesome awesome circuit), so i dont think ill be able to get my head around the mustang too but ...

...some general advice with the Mustang (not that ive driven it much) is brake earlier rather than later, as with such a heavy car when you push to hard into a turn you spend all the next straight trying to get up to speed again - its far better to slow earlier, and carry smooth speed through turn, which will benefit your speed down next straight.

And the FFB does feel rather different in the mustang.. with such a heavy car when you lock the brakes the affect is very noticeable with the dead feel in wheel.. thats part of characteristic if this style car

Haha. Practice is never a waste. I practiced all last week and never raced. I think it will be like that for some time, all these different combos takes time to get used to compared to Rookie. I love Mosport. Only had one session on it so far but really fun! Lose concentration for a bit though and your car is totalled. Unforgiving going off the track at this place heh.

Mosport is a speedy little bugger! Just did a quick 10 laps and best time was 1:35:60... how does that compare?

I've only signed up for one race in the last 14 days and that was a rookie one on lime rock. Came 5th but gee it felt weird after spending so much time in the stang and the star. I'm hoping that come next season I can race as much as I did when I started the Solstice Challenge.

Yep I know exactly what ya mean mate. I think I did one race within the last 1 to 2 weeks which was to show a friend. Was a Rookie race on Laguna. Other than that just practicing. I love open wheelers so much more but for some reason I am loving the Mustang and have a lot more fun driving it. I guess as well as it is the next step from Rookie I feel more comfortable being in that zone of competition to.

On Mosport I have done a 1:34:713 which I felt was a good lap. I haven't used the TAB key yet for this track, just getting a feel for it first. I know there is a lot to improve on, but I feel it is a good start for the first couple sessions for the week :)

I'm thinking if I put in 20 laps every night I should be good to race on Friday night.

And damn Lucas, you sure know your way around racers!

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't heh. I like to be consistent, I'm no means a fast driver at all. At the end of the recent practice session I got a 1:34:1 and for the life of me couldn't break into the 33's. I see others comfortably in the 33's and 32's so I need to do some research as to where to find this extra time!
