Wow, I remember that Monster Truck Madness game, used to have the demo on the disc from a PC magazine. I grew up with games like Super Mario All Stars (just recently got the 25th Anniversary edition on Wii), Top Gear, Illusion of Time and Donkey Kong Country on SNES. After my dad got a computer I started playing games like Rockford, Krypton Egg and Age of Empires (I think everyone I knew, gamers or not, had a copy of the Nutri-Grain edition :P).

Hah, since I started this reply I have spent 3 hours trying to remember and find all the old games I used to play :P (Ended up with quite a list). Can't believe I nearly forgot about the Worms series. I must've spent hundreds of hours on those games.

I loved syphonfilter. The cut scene animations were great for the day.

And i see you a monster truck madness and raise you a motocross madness.

Also Midtown madness 2, anyone remember that? My friend and I spent countless hours trying to find downloadable cars.

I also used to play Age of Empires online in msn's gaming "zone"
Also love police quest. Commander keen and prince of persia

And clear gameboys!

And Kurushi, the game that had a demo on the ps1 demo disk.
Kurushi is still my most favourite game to date and one i still play. I used to use it to wake up back when I had wake up at like 5am for my apprentiship.

Also was off topic: Its called super mario brothers right? How does that even work if Mario is his first name? Is his name Mario Mario?

Yeah, a little part of me died tonight when i thought of that...

I had the demo for both of those too, both got quite a bit of time put into them :D.
At the time we only had dialup and I didn't know about the multiplayer in Age of Empires so I only ever played it offline. The same was the case for many of my games, like Battlefield 1942 and such.

I saw commander keen on someone else post which got me thinking, my favourite game would have been a tie between that and wacky wheels... which is definately better then mario kart :p
<Matt> Hey, I just realized...
<HazeMan> What?
<Matt> While encountered together in captivity, in the wild, the stapler and the staple remover are natural enemies.
<HazeMan> O_o

Rainbow Six (and RS:Black Thorne)
Ghost Recon
Delta Force (1, 2, Task Force Dagger)
Commandos 2 (which I recently found and bought!)
Operation Flashpoint (the only one that continued to be awesome/exist, despite a name change).

Ah, if only those titles got continued, some really awesome stuff could of come of them by this stage :(

Makes me want to cry, what are we letting kids these days grow up in?

Just remembered Catacomb. Was probably the thing that got me into gaming.

We have this disc that has over 300 (425, I just found the disc) games on it, it looks legal, I have no idea when or where we got it or how legit it is. That introduced me to games such as Mico (a game where you had to reflect laser beams) Commander Keen, a game called Zulu, which I think was kinda like Pokemon Stadium (can't play it these days because of missing soundblaster drivers :P) and I am 100% certain I have played that game Sky Roads from A13x's post, but I have no idea what you did in it.

I played Midtown Madness 2 at my friend's place, had a demo of Motocross Madness, Micro Machines was a good game, and we had this game called Incoming which was like Afterburner. And of course, Road Rage, my number 1 retro game I think.

Ooh, I just remembered Earthworm Jim, a game which I heard from someone was really hard, and I was wondering whether they were talking about the version I played, because I definitely finished it.

EDIT: And of course, probably the first games I ever played on my brother's SNES, Wizards and Warriors 3 and Double Dragon 2 and Battletoads. Loved those games. May I also point out that that Sky Roads game is as old as me.

EDIT2: And Redneck Rampage, I played that a bunch at my friends house as well, along with Turok.
