I'm definitely considering it.

What's the word on the OCZ Octane?

Reliable?

I don't trust catch of the day now. My brother and friend bought the recent Logitech G9X and G105 MW3 themed mouse/keyboard. My friends mouse doesn't work and both my brothers mouse AND keyboard don't work. Pathetic.

Basically they'll switch off randomly.

I call that just EXTREMELY bad luck. It's not like any retailer would specifically try to source broken stock. It was all unopened surely?

My brother gave me his to have my own extended test to make sure it's not him or his computer. They haven't died yet but the side buttons and mouse wheel (click part) are pretty trashy imo, my MX518 is leagues better designed even if the G9X feels soooo nice to hold and glides on my mousepad like a leaf in the wind. Maybe my brother was exaggerating his problems, I know I had the same problems with the side buttons as he described (they weren't activating properly) but I think I've fixed that with same tape (the buttons on the 'grip' thing weren't connecting with the actual buttons well enough I don't think). My friends was definitely busted however.

My MX518 is amazing and has lasted me I think 8+ years (7 if you count my friend having to resolder some broken cord wires last year). I just feel it's an amazingly designed mouse. Maybe they only had that one success story and everything else they touch is sh!t. *shrugs*

I've used some Razor mice in the past as well and none of them I really liked. They all felt cheap and not very comfortable given they were designed to be symmetrical.

My comment on Razer was only that I have tried other brands and don't think highly of them hence why I personally think highly of Logitech products.

Everything Razor make is so cheap and chintzy, I will never understand why so many people love it so much.

I tried using their 'popular' deathadder mice and I went through 3 of them, from different batches (one was a 'special' make as well) all breaking within the week; One the mouse wheel flew out of when I scrolled backwards, one the sensor stopped working and another the cord actually came out of it... They were all new stock and unopened, the guy who sold me them was surprised to say the least and he even said they get a lot of returns from problems with them.

They also had a demo of their mechanical keyboard at a local shop and it felt like something you'd pay $10 for at a kids toy shop, so I've stopped even thinking about them as a serious brand.
The thing I find most funny is that even though they know their devices are ****, they don't get them to change how they are made at all.

Logitech on the other hand I've never had a problem with for around 10 years, they are built properly and the software isn't complete garbage.

I like how a thread about cheap SSDs has turned into showing of loyalty to peripheral brands.
