USB drives work fine
USB wireless dongles work fine
It would be a challenge to set up, and heaps of fun to do - but it isn't what you want for this situation.

That motherboard would have a spare PCIe slot with which I could chuck a TV card into. That's something I'll be looking at in the future. I currently have a Panasonic Blu-Ray player/recorder/burner which is excellent

Silverstone have a lot of media player inspired cases (follow Steve's link). As for PSU's, cheap is never really a good option.
