They also do custom builds now (last item on that list).

As if you needed any more excuses to throw money at PCCG.

It's good for those that don't derive fun or pride for building their new water cooled sli/cf monstrosities. But if it brings more over to the glorious gaming master race i am totally all for it. More noobs to shoot

But good on PCCG for the service i went and fired up the calculator totally expected a overpriced build and it was only over by $4 on the top 680sli build inc the assemble fee. So nice so used to saying how overpriced/underpowered pcs are compared to sourcing your own parts might just send my mates here instead them hassling me to build theirs.

I checked one of the builds when I first noticed them and there was a $54 difference, checked the GTX680 build and there's a $3 difference.

I know they make a nice margin with postage and 'insurance' but it seems odd to value a build at $3 when it's going to take them 30 mins at least to put it together and then package and ship.

PCCG isn't exactly the cheapest shop around anyway.

You can save yourself typically a couple of bucks shopping elsewhere. I saved $250 on my most recent build by going MSY instead of PCCG.

this

PCCG has fantastic service but its not enough to justify the inflated cost IMO. Especially after you add postage on top, regardless of how quick it arrives.

Inflated cost? I generally use StaticIce to compare, and it works out cheaper then more local Perth stores even factoring in delivery. Except on giant items like cases of course.

PLE prices are usually aligned with PCCG, it's just PLE usually beat them by a few dollars here and there and have a better range of brands.
MSY has some good pricing on some of their items but dealing with them is akin to hitting your head against a wall if anything goes wrong.

Would be perfect if PCCG they had a warehouse in Perth :P

heh, i'd rather pay a bit more to PCCG then be in contact with them if its faulty and get it rma'd etc, than having to deal with MSY....

I'm in Perth also, I tend to always use MSY. Never had any troubles with warranties from either of their stores either.

They get the job done and they're cheaper than PCCG.

I don't wish to shop at MSY again but the last (and only) time I did I got some RAM that ended up being faulty. I took it back and besides the huge assed line I got a replacement quickly and without hassle. Maybe I got lucky or something given all the horror stories everyone gives.

ah i got a feeling most of my angst is placed before certain sydney stores, the rest of the chains might be a whole lot better, but all i know is that if the goods a cheap they have to be cost cutting somewhere...

and 2-3 bad experiences tend to make me spend cash elsewhere.

If PCCG is too highly priced there are a lot of alternatives, and staticice is a good place to find them, i dont mind BTTech and umart, who i think price competitively and often have some hard to come by goods, PCCG always seems to have the more higher tier of stuff them.

that's fair enough.

I'd certainly avoid MSY if I'd had that many bad experiences, maybe I'm just lucky but I haven't even had the first one yet. Another factor is I'd much rather be able to drive 5 minutes to try and handle a warranty claim then having to send something back to PCCG.

As for other retailers I was going to recommend PCManiacs but I've just done a little google search and it seems he went out of business  :P

3 separate stores have been rude/abusive to me. I'm never f**king going back... I just go to ARC around the corner from work now.

But on the PCCG front, I'd probably do this for someone like my parents/fiancée just for simplicity sake.
